Sri Lankan shines at ‘PEMA Speaking Awards 2022’
In recognition of the contributions made during an international symposium curated online on August 5th themed
‘social media and its role in peace building’, Uae-based Sri Lankan Dr. Furkhan Noordeen was conferred a coveted accolade by PEACE MINDSET AMBASSADORS (PEMA) at a recently held virtual awards ceremony titled ‘PEMA SPEAKING AWARDS 2022.’
Presently working in the capacity of Director General of International News and Documentation at World Institute for Peace, Dr. Furkhan is a renowned writer, compere, youth activist, peace ambassador and lecturer in media and journalism having multiple affiliations with local and international organisations including Global Peace Institute (UK) and Regional Alliance for Fostering Youth (Maldives).

2022’ were Dr. Mary Lou Bryant (Colorado), Stanley Noffsinger (Indiana) as well as Rev. John Pofi, Dr. Dennis Inyang and Andrew Essien from Nigeria. Special invitees Ubongabasi Victor, Emem Ben, Chibuzo Okereke and Mercy Adams graced the ceremony held under the aegis of PEMA President Samuel Edet, Secretary Clement Essien and Special
Advisor (International Affairs and Innovation) William Hammond.
