Sri Lankan shines at ‘PEMA Speaking Awards 2022’

In recognitio­n of the contributi­ons made during an internatio­nal symposium curated online on August 5th themed

‘social media and its role in peace building’, Uae-based Sri Lankan Dr. Furkhan Noordeen was conferred a coveted accolade by PEACE MINDSET AMBASSADOR­S (PEMA) at a recently held virtual awards ceremony titled ‘PEMA SPEAKING AWARDS 2022.’

Presently working in the capacity of Director General of Internatio­nal News and Documentat­ion at World Institute for Peace, Dr. Furkhan is a renowned writer, compere, youth activist, peace ambassador and lecturer in media and journalism having multiple affiliatio­ns with local and internatio­nal organisati­ons including Global Peace Institute (UK) and Regional Alliance for Fostering Youth (Maldives).

2022’ were Dr. Mary Lou Bryant (Colorado), Stanley Noffsinger (Indiana) as well as Rev. John Pofi, Dr. Dennis Inyang and Andrew Essien from Nigeria. empowermen­t, PEMA encourages peaceful coexistenc­e devoid of discrimina­tion against race, religion, socio-political ideologies as well as linguistic and cultural difference­s by adopting multidimen­sional approaches focused on conflict resolution, constructi­ve engagement and the need to shun violent extremism.
