Private sector, cleanse yourself

-

We often hear, on a day to day basis corruption, scandals and wastage by the government, some politicians and officials. Also recently we came to know that certain exporters have not repatriated some of their funds back to Sri Lanka, this needs to be investigated to verify whether this is true.

Also how many businessmen have off shore accounts in safe havens, properties etc., If we recover the stolen money and investigate money slashed abroad properly and widen the tax net, I am sure this would help the economy. The different chambers of commerce have rarely highlighted corruption and misuse of funds by successive governments.

The country needs a thorough clean up in every sector as the cancer of corruption has crept in all over

Today various economists and experts are giving lectures, writing articles with various theories. I feel basics, law and order, good governance, the rule of law, an active AG department an honest judiciary are prerequisite for our country to come out of bankruptcy. Also most loss- making government institutions, if cannot be restructured should be privatized transparently. Sometimes the private buyers may be corrupt as well so there should be honest and eminent people to evaluate.

The country needs a thorough clean up in every sector as the cancer of corruption has crept in all over. We only hear of corruption but no action has been taken, so many are forgotten.

Let’s have a list of all the corrupt deals so that the next government will be held responsible to investigate each one without fear or favour.
