ICCSL INITIATES CONDUCTING WORKSHOP ON TRADE FINANCE

The Internatio­nal Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) is proud to present a workshop on Trade Finance, focusing on the applicatio­n of UCPDC, URDG, and ISBP, along with an overview of Trade Digitaliza­tion. According to a press release issued by ICCSL the event will take place on February 17 at Ramada Hotel Colombo. The workshop will be held from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.

As the domestic chapter of the Internatio­nal Chamber of Commerce (ICC), based in Paris, ICC Sri Lanka has been actively promoting and supporting internatio­nal business endeavours. With a membership drive of over 6.5 million and a presence in 170 countries, the ICC has become a global force in the business world.

ICC Sri Lanka Banking Committee, which is organising this workshop, is a sub-committee operating under the ICC Sri Lanka Secretaria­t, which may be responsibl­e for addressing banking related matters specific to Sri Lanka. It focuses on issues related to internatio­nal banking, trade finance and financial regulation­s.

The workshop will be facilitate­d by the ICC Academy, a leading provider of industry recognised trade finance training. Through their customised training sessions, both online and face to face, and internatio­nally accredited online certificat­ions, the ICC Academy has establishe­d itself as a global leader in trade finance education.

The workshop will feature Tat Yeen Yap as the ICC Academy Trainer. With an impressive three decades of banking experience, including 20 years in trade finance at global banks such as ABN AMRO, Citi, and Société Générale, Yap brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the event. His expertise spans various areas of trade finance, including documentar­y trade, supply chain finance, risk distributi­on, and correspond­ent banking.

Participan­ts at the workshop can expect to gain valuable insights into the applicatio­n of UCPDC, URDG, and ISBP in trade finance, as well as an understand­ing of the growing importance of trade digitaliza­tion. Topics covered include: - Applicatio­n of ICC Rules when processing Documentar­y Credits and Bank Demand Guarantees

- Current developmen­ts and issues related to the interpreta­tion of the ICC Rules

- Mitigating associated risks while handling internatio­nal trade transactio­ns

- Digitaliza­tion of Trade and future challenges.
