JOHNPILLAI BAGS GROSS AND NETT EVENTS AT RCGC

Kushal Johnpillai was in supreme form at the March Monthly Medal of the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) when he accounted for the Gross and Nett wins in the ‘A’ Division at their course in Colombo.

More than 250 competitor­s participat­ed in this event, across various divisions and the tournament was sponsored by WURTH.

Johnpillai secured both the Gross and Nett titles with scores of 73 and 70 Nett B/B 9, respective­ly while Adam Fernando closely followed as the runnerup with a score of 70 Nett.

Meanwhile, Yun Jeong Choi dominated the Ladies’ Silver Division, securing the Gross title with a score of 87 and displaying her power by securing the runner-up position with 72 Nett.

However, Michele Thurairaja emerged victorious in the Nett category with a commendabl­e score of 71 Nett.

Intheladie­s’bronzesegm­ent, Jennifer Simms emerged as the standout performer, claiming both the Gross and Nett titles.

Her exceptiona­l score of 92 Gross with a B/B 9 and 66 Nett secured her position as a force to be reckoned with on the course.

Neelani Hettiarach­chi, demonstrat­ing formidable skills, clinched the Nett runner-up position with an impressive score of 67.

In the junior division, Thejas Kanth showed remarkable talent by claiming the Gross and Nett titles with scores of 71 Gross and 66 Nett, respective­ly.

Yanilka De Silva closely followed as the Nett runner-up with a score of 71 Nett.

In the senior division, Harendra De Silva emerged triumphant in the Gross category with a commendabl­e score of 84 while Wijitha Perera clinched the Nett title with 72 Nett.

Suresh Amaraseker­a secured the Nett runner-up position with a score of 73 Nett B/B 9.

In the Masters Division, M. L. Hirdaraman­i claimed the Gross title with a score of 83 and secured the Nett runner-up position with 65 Nett.

Lakshman Athukorala emerged as the Nett winner with an impressive score of 64 Nett.

Additional­ly, the event recognised outstandin­g performanc­es in Division ‘C’, where Lanka Santha claimed the Gross title with 88 and Murry Fernandez secured the Nett title with an impressive score of 65 Nett.

Arjun Fernando excelled in Division ‘B’, securing the Gross title with a score of 80 B/B 9 while Shanil Fernando emerged as the Nett winner with 64 Nett.

The event also featured exciting competitio­ns for the nearest to the PIN, won by Janaki Sugathapal­a for the Ladies and Rohith Fonseka for the Gents.

In the Longest Drive segment, Shamara Wettimuny claimed victory for the Ladies’ while Jacob Norton emerged triumphant for the Men’s
