Kavinu shines in Siri Piyaratana MMV’S win

Kavinu Kithmuka shone with an allround performanc­e in Siri Piyaratana MMV’S outright win by six wickets against Kalutara MV in the Under 19 Division Two Tier ‘A’ relegation match played at St. John’s ground in Panadura.

Kithmuka cracked a half ton in the first innings and followed it up with an unbeaten 119 in 121 balls including eight boundaries and ten sixes. Kalutara MV with this defeat will be demoted to the lower division.

Meanwhile Sri Pagnananda MMV skipper Sachintha Sandaruwan slammed a quick fire 72 ball knock of 114 inclusive of 12 boundaries and eight sixes and shared a valuable 143 runs stand for the fifth wicket with Pushpitha Buwenaka to help them to record an easy first innings win over Maliyadeva Model School, Kurunegala in the second round match to secure a berth to the pre-quarter finals.

Royal Central Polonnaruw­a too recorded a first innings win over Sir John Kothalawal­a College Kurunegala in a high scoring match of the same tournament played at Kurunegala to advance to the per-quarter finals.
