Berries & bananas

Mix and match fruits are a treat

STRAWBERRI­ES & CREAM

Blend a cup of frozen strawberri­es with ½ a cup of yoghurt, a tablespoon of maple syrup and ¼ teaspoon of vanilla until all is smooth. Transfer it into a bowl and top off with cornflakes, sliced strawberri­es, almonds, pumpkin and chia seeds, and a drizzle of yoghurt and maple syrup.

PINEAPPLE & BANANA

Blend a cup of frozen pineapple, one banana, ¼ cup of coconut water and a tablespoon of honey until all is smooth. Transfer it to a bowl and top off with sliced peaches, sunflower seeds, rice cereal and a drizzle of honey.

AVOCADO & KALE

Blend a cup of kale with a cup of almond milk, ½ a banana, ½ an avocado, ½ a cup of ice and a tablespoon of honey until all is smooth. Transfer it to a bowl and top off with the sliced strawberri­es and kiwi, chia seeds, ½ a sliced banana and a drizzle of honey.

ALMOND & RASPBERRY

Blend a large banana with a cup of frozen raspberrie­s, ½ a cup of soy milk, ½ a cup of ice, two tablespoon­s of almond butter and a tablespoon of honey until all is smooth. Transfer it to a bowl and top off with sliced strawberri­es, granola, shredded coconut and a drizzle of honey.

PEACH & ORANGE

Blend 1½ cups of frozen peaches, a banana and ½ a cup of orange juice until all is smooth. Transfer it to a bowl and top off with the fresh peaches, strawberri­es, oranges, walnuts, hemp seeds and a drizzle of honey.

MIXED BERRIES

Blend 1½ cups of frozen berries, ¼ a cup of pomegranat­e juice and ¼ cup of yoghurt until all is smooth. Transfer it to a bowl and top off with peaches, strawberri­es, pumpkin seeds and a drizzle of yoghurt.

CHOCOLATE & BANANA

Blend one cup of almond milk with ½ a banana, a cup of ice, two tablespoon­s of peanut butter, a tablespoon of cocoa powder, ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract and a tablespoon of maple syrup until all is smooth. Transfer it to a bowl and top off with cocoa nibs or chocolate, granola, chopped peanuts and a sliced banana.

SPINACH & PINEAPPLE

Blend a cup of baby spinach leaves, a cup of frozen blueberrie­s, ½ a cup of apple juice and ½ a cup of ice until all is smooth. Transfer it to a bowl and top off with pineapple, rice cereal, pumpkin and flax seeds, and a drizzle of honey.

MANGO & PINEAPPLE

Blend ¾ cup of frozen mango, ¾ cup of frozen pineapple, one small banana and ½ a cup of coconut water until all is smooth. Transfer it to a bowl and top off with fresh mango, kiwi, dates and shredded coconut.

MIX & MATCH

Start with a cup of any frozen fruit and a banana. You can also add about ½ a cup of stemmed and chopped leafy vegetables such as kale or spinach. Add about ½ a cup of liquids like milk, almond milk, yoghurt, coconut water, orange juice, soy milk, or pomegranat­e or carrot juice. Add a tablespoon of nut butter and/or sweetener, and adjust it to taste. Top it off with anything that catches your fancy such as seeds, cereals, fresh or even dried fruit.
