Elle Fanning

- PROFILED BY Manilka Ediriweera

Making her on-screen debut at a tender age, Elle Fanning has made a name for herself both on and offscreen. She is widely known for her role as Sleeping Beauty in Disney’s ‘Maleficent: Mistress of Evil.’ From child star to fashion queen, Fanning’s style shines in her choice of jaw-dropping red carpet dresses and laid-back street style looks. This young Hollywood star has certainly created a stir in the fashion world and established herself as a haute couture favourite.

With her chic, sweet, feminine, fearless and daring yet playful style, Elle has captured the attention of everyone. She has rarely put a sartorial foot wrong, and manages to keep her fans enthralled with her exceptional and unpredictable wardrobe choices.

In case you would like some of her fashion inspiration, here’s how you can appropriate that feminine yet edgy style!

PRINCESS GOWNS Whether she’s promoting movies or hitting the red carpet, Elle Fanning always manages to look ethereal in princess gowns. She was spotted wearing a slew of glamorous princess gowns while promoting her Disney film last year.

From a mint green strapless floor length Armani gown with mesh detailing and fluted sleeves, to the green chiffon custom-made Gucci dress with drop sleeves, thin silver belt and silver spaghetti straps, her love for fairytale princess gowns is evident.

POWER SUITS They have been among the most notable fashion trends in the world in recent years.

Among the many Hollywood stars who wear pantsuits, Fanning stands out with her sophisticated power suits.

Her pastel pink Sandro suit is a perfect example of how she nailed this trend. Elle has proven that she can not only look ‘business ready’ in suits but also switch it up and keep it casual by pairing up oversized suits with wide legged trousers.

VINTAGE STYLE These outfits seem to be yet another favourite of Elle’s with her 1950s retro style. Time and again, she has proven that the old school style is cool. The showstopping Dior ensemble she wore at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, which oozed traditional Hollywood glamour, is undoubtedly one of her best fashion moments to date. This look took over 450 hours of work and was inspired by Christian Dior’s 1947 collection. The outfit consists of a full tulle skirt, ivory silk organza shirt and a black macramé hat.

Like Elle, you too can embrace a casual old school style by investing in ’70s style denim dresses and flares, groovy jumpsuits, high waisted plaid trousers and peasant blouses. DEEP NECKLINE The plunging neckline has been one of the hottest trends in recent times, and Elle has been spotted on multiple occasions experimenting with it.

From evening gowns to power suits – both with plunging necklines – she has mastered the trend. And she looked nothing but sensational sporting the floral Valentino dress with its plunging neckline at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.
