Yoshitha fetches a whopping Rs. 11 million

There was hectic buying at the captains bidding for the forthcomin­g Carlton Super Sevens where there were 23 nominees. Out of the nominated 23 players up for sale, the ten highest bided players now will captain their respective franchises.

First in the list was Sri Lanka national sevens captain Fazil Marija. Seven franchises from the ten present bid Marija and he was sold at Rs. 3 million to the Northern Gladiators.

The next in the list were Srinath Sooriyaban­dara, Nigel Ratwatte and Shenal Dias. Three of them were bought at 2.5 million rupees each by Southern Sharks, Central Kings and Eastern Eagles respective­ly.

The fifth in the list was the Lankan 15s skipper Yoshitha Rajapaksa. Two franchises bid for him -The Jaffna Challenger­s and the Western Worriers. Western Worriers chief bidder Chanuka Ratwatte won that battle by buying the Lankan skipper out for a whopping 11 million rupees.

The rest of the captains bought that were Gayan Weeraratne (Rs 2 millionNor­th Western Blacks), Pradeep Liyanage (Rs. 1.5 million North Central Typhoons) Then Chamara Dabare (Uva Vipers), Rohitha Rajapaksa (Sabaragamu­wa Stallions) and Sajith Saranga (Jaffna Challenger­s) were brought at Rs. 800,000 each.
