SKÅL Asia holds 42nd annual SKÅL Congress in Sri Lanka

-

SKÅL International, an international association of Travel and Tourism Professionals, will be holding its 42nd Congress of the Asian SKÅL Clubs on May 30 to June 2 in Negombo, Sri Lanka.

Over 150 Skalleagues (as members of this grouping are known) from around the world would be meeting to renew old acquaintances and make new friendships at this annual event, the local branch of SKAL said in a media statement.

“Even though it is primarily a Congress for the Asian Clubs, it does not preclude any Skalleague from any of the 450 clubs worldwide from participating and this year too there are Skalleagues from Australia, USA, Europe and the United Kingdom who have registered. Also in attendance will be the SKÅL International World President, Mok SIngh and his wife from the USA and the current Asian President Gerry Perez from Guam,” the statement added.

The AGM to elect the Board of Officers, for a two-year term for the Asian Region will also take place during the Congress. This will be the third Asian Congress that SKÅL Colombo will be hosting having hosted previous Asian Congresses in 1986 and 1994. SKÅL Colombo also had the privilege of hosting the SKÅL World Congress in 1990, the organizers said.

SKAL International has evolved into a professional organization of tourism leaders around the world, promoting global tourism. It is the only international organisation which brings together all sectors of the travel and tourism industry. SKAL International has approximately 20,000 members in 450 Clubs throughout 85 nations and regions.
