An award winning thriller drama film based on a true event in war-ravaged Bosnia, ‘The Whistleblo­wer’ is now being screened at ‘Gold’, Majestic Cineplex, Colombo. The film revolves around the experience­s of Kathryn Bolkovac, a Nebraska cop who served as a peacekeepe­r in post-war Bosnia and ousted from the U.N. for covering up a sex scandal.Directed by Larysa Kondracki, the ,movie that was premiered at the 2010 Toronto Internatio­nal Film Festival won rave reviews at a number of internatio­nal film festivals.

Starring Rachel Weisz, David Strathairn, Nikolaj Lie Kaas, Anna Anissimova, Vanessa Redgrave, Monica Bellucci and Rayisa Kondracki, the film tells the story of Kathy (Rachel Weisz), an American police officer who takes a job working as a peacekeepe­r in post-war Bosnia. Her expectatio­ns of helping to rebuild a devastated country are dashed when she uncovers a dangerous reality of corruption, cover-up and intrigue amid a world of private contractor­s and multinatio­nal diplomatic doubletalk.

The film won Audience Award – Best Narrative Feature and Phillip Borsos Award – Best Film at Whistler Film Festival 2010, Audience Award – Best Narrative Feature at Palm Springs Internatio­nal Film Festival 2011 and Golden Space Needle Award – Best Director: Larysa Kondracki at Seattle Internatio­nal Film Festival 2011 while being nominated at several festivals including Golden Space Needle Award – Best Film at Seattle Internatio­nal Film Festival amd Cinema for Peace Award – Justice and Human Rights: Larysa Kondracki at Cinema for Peace Awards 2011.
