New Singer LifeStraw Purifier a thirst quencher

-

A new collaboration sees Singer joins the ranks of global enterprises that are integrating sustainable solutions into company business models. The Singer LifeStraw Purifier is an effective and affordable new water purifier that is now available across Sri Lanka. Singer sources the product through Vestergaard, a global organisation that devotes its entire innovative platform to producing breakthrough products and solutions for disadvantaged people. LifeStraw has received many accolades including being named "One of ten things that will change the way we live" by Forbes magazine.

Singer makes a conscious effort to distribute products that support the health and wellbeing of consumers. The Singer LifeStraw Purifier is being promoted as an effective solution to filtering contaminated water, in conjunction with the Singer ‘Thirst for Life’ clean water public service campaign.

The high-capacity countertop Singer LifeStraw Purifier employs a multi- stage, chemi- cal- free, ultra filtration technology that effectively removes viruses, bacteria, protozoa, cysts, turbidity and potential bad smells from untreated water, while retaining its beneficial minerals. Its gravity-powered energy source replaces an electrical input in order to save energy. With an 18- litre integrated safe storage chamber that holds 9 litres of clean water, the long- lasting Singer LifeStraw Purifier allows for 4500 litres of water to be purified before replacing the cartridge.

According to statistics produced by the National Water Supply and Drainage Board in 2011, up to 3.5 million Sri Lankans are in harm’s way as they do not have access to clean water. A practical issue faced by many Sri Lankans is that the water sources themselves are contaminated with high chlorine levels, chemicals and discharge.

Access and affordability are key reasons why many Sri Lankans living in rural areas are deprived of a clean water solution.
