Openarc Campus’ Industrial Diploma in IDSD Guarantees “Work Readiness” within a year

-

Last month internships in Software Development commenced for another batch of Industrial Diploma in Software Development (IDSD) students at OpenArc Systems Management (OSM). While on internship these students will soon be completing their Industrial Diploma which is a one year full-time studies with industrial training in Software Development. After their Industrial Diploma the IDSD graduates continue their academic journey with the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) which is a prestigious degree offered externally by the University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC).

“Work First – Degree Next” slogan thus captures the very essence of the Industrial Diploma in Software Development (IDSD). Batch after batch of IDSD graduates join the software development workforce while continuing to read for their academic degree. At the completion of their degree these “Industrial” graduates typically have a 3 year work experience in the software field and move on to become Software Engineers very quickly.

The Industrial Diploma in Software Development (IDSD) stands out as the foremost workforce development programme in Software Development. The students follow academic studies all five days of the week. And as part of their industrial training they are exposed to work in real-life projects in software development in such areas as; ERP, Banking, Finance, E-commerce. Those fortunate to follow this Industrial Diploma could easily fit into any Software Development organization with ease. Most of these graduates secure jobs by the time they graduate at the end of the year’s programme. OpenArc Campus which is one of the few ISO 9001:2008 standards certified education institutions ensures that the processes and best practices could be replicated every year to ensure consistency in quality of the programme.

Apart from their technical training students are groomed in high values and ethics. Self awareness such as understanding one’s own Strengths, Talent-mix and weakness is brought about by the skills development programme and is an integral part of IDSD. However, the success in the IDSD programme every year is the partnership of OpenArc System Management (OSM), a local software company that has been providing its own software solutions to Banking and Finance Sectors for the past 23 years. The largest banks in Sri Lanka function with the software developed by this company.

Industrial Diploma in Software Development (IDSD) is an excellent pathway for students wanting to follow local or foreign degrees. For instance students who have been already been selected to the State Universities and those wanting to follow a foreign degree in Sri Lanka could complete IDSD before they start on their selected degrees. The intake for the 6th batch - the IDSD 6is currently underway at OpenArc Campus.
