Madawa, Damindu help Kalutara PCC take lead
Half tons by Madawa Nimesh and Damindu Ashan helped Kalutara PCC to take a first inning lead over Sebastianites CC and to put them in line for an outright victory when play ended on day two in the Emerging Trophy cricket tournament encounter at the Panadura Esplanade.
Madawa cracked a 71 while Damindu chipped in with a 61 enabling Kalu- tara PCC resuming on their overnight score of 167 for 7 to make a score of 225 in reply to the Sebastianites CC’s score of 183.
Sebastianites CC batting the second time was bowled out for 203 and Kalutara PCC left with a target of 162 runs for victory ended day two on 48 for no loss needing a further 114 runs with ten wickets in hand when play begins today.
Kuruenegala YCC thanks to a six wicket haul by Anuruddha Rajapakse too was able to take a first inning lead against Kalutara TC when play stopped on day two in the match played at the Surrey Village ground in Maggona.
The opening day’s play saw Kurunegala YCC make a modest 202 and Kalutara TC ended the day on 136 for 6. The morning session of play on the second day saw Kurunegala YCC restricting Kalutara TC to a score of 177 through the effort of Anuraddha’s top figures of 6 for 53.
Half tons by Rajitha Wickramaarachchi, Chanaka Silva and Venuka Ashan enabled BRC to take a comfortable first inning lead over Police SC at the Police Park.
BRC in reply to Police SC’s 257 resuming from their overnight score of 24 for no loss posted a formidable 340 for 9 before declaring.
Lankan CC resuming on their overnight score of 30 for 1 after being in a strong position of 110 for 3 at the lunch break collapsed to 203 but was able to take a first inning lead over Panadura SC who made 193 at Kadirana.
Malith de Silva steered Galle CC with a five wicket haul helping them take a first inning lead over Navy SC at Galle. Galle CC having made a formidable score of 256 restricted Navy SC to a score of 221.
