The Graduate Institute of Science and Management ( GISM) is a higher learning and research institute, establishe­d in 2010. GISM administer­s Education programmes, carries out research activities and implements profession­al training programmes .

SENIOR ACADEMIC AT THE HELM

Prof. Senaratne is the founder of GISM, Sri Lanka and also the Dean of the Faculty of Engineerin­g and Technology. He has over 38 years experience in both the industry and the academia and is a dual Citizen of New Zealand. His research and publicatio­ns are on Microwave Inverse Scattering theory applied for ‘ Early Stage Detection of Breast Cancer’ and ‘ Foreign Object Identifica­tion’ in general. He is a visiting Professor at Sharda University. He read for his MSc. in Mobile and Satellite Communicat­ion in Westminste­r University U. K. and PhD in Microwave Technology at Massey University, New Zealand. He is a Member of IET, U.K.

After returning to Sri Lanka in 2010, he, together with academics from both the local and the overseas universiti­es establishe­d GISM with the core vision of creating opportunit­ies for Sri Lankan students to access the best quality higher education programmes in the world with affordable cost.

“Having served in New Zealand, I understood that Massey University is amongst the leaders in higher Education and having returned to Sri Lanka, after completing my PhD at Massey University, and gaining experience in both academia and exposure to industry, I was determined to provide opportunit­ies for young Sri Lankans to take advantage of New Zealand education, just as I did. These reasons inspired me to collaborat­e with New Zealand.” explained Prof. Senaratne.

The ultimate objective of any student is to be able to find excellent employment on completion of studies. In order to produce the best graduates, who meet the needs of the local and the global Industry, Prof. Senaratne has collaborat­ed with Mr. Sarath Jayasinghe.

With over 35 years of rich experience in the field of Human Resource Management both in Sri Lanka and overseas, some of the key positions held by Mr.Jayasinghe are Group HR Director for STS Group of Companies in Bangladesh, Director of Human Resources in Apollo Hospitals – Dhaka, DGM Sampath Bank, Country Human Resources Manager – Coca Cola, Group General Manager for Loadstar and Group HR Manager – Nestlé.

“I have been involved in change management with hands- on organizati­onal transforma­tion carried out at Apollo Hospitals Dhaka and Coca-cola among the few. As an accredited psychometr­ician, my expertise on identifyin­g talent in people and help them to harness such potential has given me the blessings to make successful careers for young tal- ent. There fore, my strength in coaching and mentoring could help leverage the potential of the youth for their success. Through GISM I look forward to help the youth of this country to brighten their future.” Mr Jayasinghe said.
