Aney Is It True?

Fault Admitted

There was this bowling coach shy to wear his sweater at a leading competition. The weather was freezing cold and instead of wearing it in the open he wore it in the pavilion. The reason: The words on the sweater said BAWLING COACH when it actually should have read BOWLING COACH. The company which made the sweater with the words was shocked when the word got around. Promptly a message was sent to the sport’s headquarters and they heaved a big sigh of relief when the sport’s office in Colombo admitted that it was their mistake! It may have been a mistake but the whole world was laughing asking – Do They Know Their Spelling?

The Big Show

Still on the sport which is taking the limelight these days there is a lot happening in the controlling body with the AGM of this sport scheduled to be held in April. Insiders say that all what officials are presenting to the public is a ‘Big Show’ and two brothers are trying to run the proceedings. Do not believe what you see or hear. This is really nothing

but a big farce!

Three Factions

We wonder whether everything is alright with the team that is currently taking part in a major tournament. Insiders are of the opinion that there are three factions in the team. This they assume is due to the new appointment of an official.

Unwanted advice

A high official has been pointed to a popular sports body but all what he does in giving advice that is not needed. The sport body has a legal officer as well and he even gives the legal officer advice which he considers ‘important.’ At the mo-

ment besides giving unwanted advice what is more he draws a thumping salary as well.

Nod to Nuwara Eliya

There was an important election between officials of a motor sports body. This was to decide which of the two meets was important -- the one to be held in Diyatalawa or in Nuwara Eliya. It was voted that the Nuwara Eliya meet should be given preference. Participants are however not happy as they are of the opinion that the meet at Diyatalawa is more challenging. This is because the sports governing body had decided that only one meet could be held to cut down costs. Like it or not the Nuwara Eliya meet got the nod.

The new Head of Sports is not a happy man. He has apparently told some of his close colleagues that he is not happy with what is happening. He is now wondering whether 100 days will suffice to solve the problems that are prevailing. Already 35 days have passed and no definite solutions have been found.
