Bathutha House champs

Bathutha House emerged champions at the Hejaaz Internatio­nal School InterHouse Sports Meet for the Boys’ Section with Khaldun House finishing up as runners-up. The event was held at the Sugadathas­a Stadium in Colombo with the participat­ion of students, staff members and parents.

Salman Faris of Khaldun House and Ansaf Malik of Thabari House emerged joint champions in track and field events in the Under-19 age category. Shakir Cader of Khaldun House became the champion of the Under- 17 age group while Bathutha’s Amri Munthazir was the champion of Under-15 age category. Hassen Ashker of Khandun House emerged the Under-13 champ while Azmeth Mahir of Thabari House and Uzman Thahir of Bathutha House became the Under-11 and Under-9 age group champions respective­ly.

Apart from track and field events held on the day, the Karate Drill Display took the focus of all who were present while the parents’ Tug- o- War and the Old Boys’ 4x100m Relay events kept the spectators well entertaine­d.

Investigat­ion Consultant at the Anti Corruption Secretaria­t of the Prime Minister’s Office and former Senior Superinten­dent of Police, Mahil Dole graced the occasion as chief guest. Director of Hejaaz Internatio­nal School, H e f r a z H i z bu l l a h and Managing Director N. M. M. Hizbullah gave away the awards to the winners.

Earlier in the day the national flag and the house flags were hoisted at the colourful opening ceremony. The national anthem was sung by the school choir and the games flag was hoisted by the games prefect Aashiq Ahamed Faizal.
