Setting out to help young people achieve their goals

“If you want to have a successful outcome you have to have a successful social environment,” said internationally renowned awardwinning scientist and human performance expert, Dr. Dragos Bratasanu, at a recent forum in Colombo. His topic was‘The Future of Leadership: Exponential thinking.’

Thirty two-year-old Dr. Bratasanu, was the keynote speaker for the CXO forum organised by Sri Lanka Institute of Training and Development held on June 10, at the Jubilee Ballroom of the Galle Face Hotel. He was here to share the successful leadership programme at NASA.

Born and raised in Romania during years of economic hardship, Dr. Bratasanu was brought up with the belief that life was a struggle and poverty an everyday reality. In college he studied engineering, to please his parents. He went through, he says, a rough patch in life and spent his free time in the library reading on ancient spiritual editions, leadership, team building, marketing and entrepreneurship.

When he was 24 years old, Dr. Bratasanu had an ambition to go on an expedition to the North Pole and South Pole. He contacted travel agencies, airlines and camera companies to enlist them in his project to their mutual benefit. It took him one year to plan and organise his expeditions.

His perseverance paid off and he embarked on the expeditions to both the North Pole and the South Pole. On his return home after this great achievement he was determined to find a way to help young people accomplish their goals just as he did. He went on to work for NASA and and became a consultant of NASA’s leadership programme.

Dr. Bratasanu is the Founder and President of Success Engineering Corp., a company focused on providing cutting-edge sustainable solutions for enhancing personal and organizational success.

He also holds a Ph.D in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Siegen in Germany and is a graduate of the Business & Management Department at the International Space University Space Studies Programme 2012 hosted by Florida Institute of Technology and the NASA Kennedy Space Centre.

He is the author of ‘Engineering Success’ which describes how NASA builds leaders and teams. He also directed the movie ‘Amazing You’, a breath-taking journey of personal fulfilment, with NASA’s top leaders and other international personalities. As a speaker, he has addressed audiences in all five continents.

As advice for the young generation, he says they need to find the courage to live true to themselves no matter what the social environment pushes them to do.

The movie ‘Amazing You’ directed by Dr. Bratasanu will be screened at the Galle Face Hotel on June 15. The film is open to all.
