Horizon Campus & PricewaterhouseCoopers(PwC) Sri Lanka to offer Internships that “Make a Difference”

-

Horizon Campus, a key UGC & MoHE approved degree awarding institution in the country, took another step in the direction of providing its students with an opportunity of securing satisfactory industry training by signing an MoU with PricewaterhouseCoopers Sri Lanka (PwC Sri Lanka), a member firm of the PwC global network, each of which is a separate legal entity.

The MoU between Horizon Campus and PwC Sri Lanka was a significant step in providing an opportunity for its students on the UGC and International Degree programmes to receive an internship while they continue their studies over a 3 year period.

The agreement was signed by Mr.Upul Daranagama - Chairman, Horizon Campus and Mr.Channa Manoharan Chief Operating Officer/ Advisory Leader PwC Sri Lanka. Also present were Mr.Ajitha Wanasignhe -CEO, Horizon Campus, Dr. Ruwan Perera- Dean/International Programmes, Horizon Campus and Mr.Nishan Mendis - Director, Consulting PwC Sri Lanka.

The greatest obstacle for any graduate remains the lack of industry experience when applying for a job. It remains the ultimate “Catch 22” scenario, where a raw graduate is required to have industry experience when applying for a job or would have to work on a “graduate training” programme, prior to selecting a line of work, which they so desire. The significance of the internship programme promoted at PwC Sri Lanka is that prospective employers would benefit from students having obtained satisfactory industry experience while they study and more importantly with a leading professional services firm such as PwC Sri Lanka.

Students who read for a University of London(UoL)Degree programme at Horizon Campus, be it in Business Management, Accounting, Banking or the Laws or students who prefer to study for a UGC approved Management or IT degrees will be eligible to apply on an annual basis. PwC Sri Lanka offers internships to those who are between their 1st and 3rd year of university under its Internship Programme and graduates who are looking for needed industry experience under the Graduate Recruitment Programme.

PwC is a network of firms in 157 countries with more than 208,000 people who are committed to delivering quality in assurance, advisory and tax services. The PwC Sri Lanka Internship and Graduate Programmes focus on developing skills in five main areas: whole leadership, business acumen, technical capabilities, global acumen and relationships, for students who join the internship and graduate programmes offered through the MoU with Horizon Campus. One of the big benefits of working in the Consulting arm of PwC Sri Lanka, is that you’ll quickly get expo- sure to senior executives and managers in some of Sri Lanka’s top companies, which initself would be a fantastic stepping stone for undergraduates/graduates in achieving their career goals in the future.

Both Graduate and Internship opportunities are currently open for students who register to read or have completed the following degree programmes offered by Horizon Campus.
