ABBA reunite for anniversar­y performanc­e

Fans were dreaming for years that the group ABBA will reunite. They waited and then taken by surprise at a private function held in Stockholm, Sweden when all four members of the onetime Swedish super group came on stage to mark their 50th anniversar­y on June for a rare singalong. Pictures of the rare event are now online they show them singing and hugging each other. ABBA came to the fore in 1974 with the song ‘Waterloo’ which won the Eurovision song contest. The group comprised Agnetha Faltstog, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Anderson and Anni-Frida Lyngstad, split up in 1982. They sold over 380 million albums. There were many rumours and stories floating around, some credible about ABBA’s reunion for years.

New music by David Bowie could be on the way by the late David Bowie. Reports indicate his long term producer Tony Visconti is negotiatin­g with the Bowie management to release the previously unreleased songs. Bowie released his last album ‘Blackstar’ on his 69th birthday, two before he died of cancer.

The Revolution has announced they have recorded music with Prince to make two albums. The band was the backing band for Prince during his Purple Rain era. The band claims the recordings are at the late musician’s Paisley Park.

Eric Clapton has collaborat­ed on two new songs for the next Rolling Stones album. The recording came about by coincidenc­e as Clapton was working in an adjoining studio when he was asked to join in for a jam session. The recordings took place at the studio in Chiswick, West London with producer Don Was.

Drake has managed to add another week to the tally his song ‘One Dance’, has at the No:1 position on the UK singles chart. This week ‘One Dance has clocked eight weeks. The song has now equalled the eight week reign of Rihanna’s ‘Umbrella’ back in 2007. ‘One Dance’ moved 85,000 copies.

The song came out on 27th May with it popularity receiving a boost with a live performanc­e at the Britain’s Got Talent contest finals recently. ‘Tears’ is dance, synthpop and classical crossover track which a trade mark for Clean Bandit. The song also features the vocals of Louisa Johnson who was the X-Factor winner in the UK in 2015. ‘Tears’ will feature on Clean Bandit’s next album. It is the fifth top 10 hit for the band.

A very catchy song called ‘This Girl’ by Kungs Vs Cookin’ On 3 Burners has made a dash from 29 to No: 10 on the UK singles chart. The person behind the success of the song is Kungs, a French DJ and remixer who has taken the laid back track by the Australian Hammond organ trio Cookin’ On 3 Burners, increased the bpm by spicing it up with trumpet riffs, tropical jazz sound and a deep house melody. Kungs who is 19 years old and has already remixed material by Bob Marley, Lana Del Rey and the Lost Frequencie­s among others. ‘This Girl’ is his big break out hit which has also helped Cookin’ On 3 Burners.
