Commercial Credit sponsors MCA Div. ‘F’ 25-over tourney
Sports Promoter, Commercial Credit & Finance PLC is, for the first time, the sponsor of the MCA Division ‘F’ 25-Over Cricket League Tournament 2016, now in progress.
The tournament got under way on May 7, with 36 teams in the fray, pooled into 6 Groups. Three teams, Fairway Holdings, CMA-CGM Containers and Trade Finance & Investment will be making their debut at MCA Cricket in this tournament.
The League stage of the tournament, consisting 90 half-a-day matches, in progress, will go on till June 26.
At the completion of the above stage, the first two teams in each Group, along with the best four 3rd placed teams from all Groups, will advance to the elimination round where the last 16 teams will advance to the Knockout stage.
In the Knockout stage, the pre-Quarter-finals will be on July 30 and 31, followed by the Quarter-finals on August 7. The Semi-finals will be on August 13, with the final to be played on August 20 at the MCA ground.
Four special awards -- Best Batsman, Best Bowler, Man of the Tournament, and Man of the Final, will be on offer.
All matches up to the final (105 half-aday matches) will be played with Grays of Cambridge ‘Avenger’ balls, directly imported from Pakistan by MCA, which carries the MCA logo. The ball is given at cost to the participating teams.
In last year's final on July 11, at the MCA ground, Vallibel Finance beat Lankem Ceylon by 83 runs.
The official sponsorship handing over ceremony, along with the media conference, was held on Monday (20) at the MCA Pavilion. The sponsorship package was handed over by Deputy General Manager- Marketing, Commercial Credit & Finance PLC, Shammi Jayathilake to PresidentMCA,Niran Mahawatte. The championship trophy was handed over by Asst.
