Kaikawala Central Under-15 lads amass 551 for 4

Matale Kaikawala Central juniors amassed most probably to be a junior school record, when they scored a mammoth 551 for 4 against Haththotuw­a Amuna MV Laggala in their U 15 division 3 Cricket encounter played at Sri Naga National School ground at Naula.

Weighing in to make this mammoth effort for Kaikawala Central were wicket-keeper batsman Dilshan Tharaka who top scored with 186, inclusive of 19 boundaries and 2 sixes and another knock of 131 by Sachintha Weerasoori­ya who hit 17 fours and 3 sixes. Also in the picture was skipper Isuru Chamika who hit a hurricane 74 ball knock of 143 with 12 sixes and 9 fours. In fact skipper Chamika finished the game with a match bag of 9 for 74.

This encounter also wit- nessed two great partnershi­ps, 287 runs between Weerasoori­ya and Tharaka for the 2nd wicket and 212 between Dilshan Tharaka and Isuru Chamika for the 3rd wicket.

Haththotuw­a Amuna MV in reply were bundled out for 64 with Saliya Kumara 5/11 and Isuru Sampath 4/32 sharing 9 wickets between them to gain first innings points.
