It was stated that the Deputy Chairman of the Nawaloka College of Higher Studies (NCHS), Mr. Victor Ramanan, has taken over as the CEO of the institution. “The Swinburne partnership with Nawaloka is very strong and we are very happy with this development” said Tim Field, Associate Director, Business Development, Swinburne University of Technology.

It was stated that Mr. Ramanan who has been actively involved in the institution has taken the helm of NCHS and has planned many exciting initiatives for the College.

“Mr. Ramanan was in Melbourne last April for the Joint Governance Committee meeting. We have also had staff members from NCHS coming to Australia and undergoing professional training. The partnership is extremely transparent and is rapidly developing” Mr. Field explained. He further stated that while Swinburne has numerous partnerships global- ly, the commitment by Nawaloka ensures that it is one of the strongest partnerships that Swinburne enjoys. “The partnership is at all levels. It ranges from academics, to administration to even marketing!”

New roles to meet Growing Needs

Other key roles will also be introduced to the organizational structure. “Nalaka Niroshana who has been involved closely with NCHS has taken over as the acting general manager. With the development of NCHS, new roles have been identified and are in the process of being filled” said Mr. Ramanan.

“The rapid growth of NCHS has created new roles and these are designed and filled together with Swinburne University. Nawaloka and Swinburne work closely in accordance to one another and this result in high quality results” Mr. Field reaffirmed.

High Quality Education

“When Swinburne expressed interest in expanding operations and starting up in Sri Lanka, we met several service providers who were interested in partnering. Nawaloka was selected due to its reputation and commitment to quality.” Mr. Fields explained that the values of the Nawaloka and Swinburne are in line with each other and that emphasis is placed on maintaining the quality of both education and operations.

“The Nawaloka group is aware of the need to continuously uphold its reputation. This is done entirely through the attention to quality. This has been the commitment given to Swinburne by Nawaloka from day one” Mr. Ramanan said.

NCHS has a record number of students for the June intake. It was explained that the numbers are a clear indicator of the development of NCHS as well as the strength of the partnership.

Exciting Future Plans

“Post graduate qualifications are in the pipeline. We are also working hard to enable full in country delivery of programmes” Mr. Ramanan said when talking about the future plans of NCHS.

“Health Sciences is a field that we are looking at too” Mr. Field added. He explained that it is an area that is directly aligned with the interests of Nawaloka.

However, this does not end what is in store at NCHS. “We are looking at adding more partners in select locations around the world through our partnership with Swinburne” Mr. Ramanan said. This will expand the global reach of NCHS and give students a plethora of options to select from when considering their higher education he explained in conclusion. MahishkaSamarasinghe
