On the spot applicatio­n assesment sessions by Malaysian Universtie­s at Edlocate

Edlocate has organized for students who are keen to do undergradu­ate and post graduate studies in Malaysia to meet representa­tives from top Malaysian universiti­es. Monash Malaysia, IMU, INTI Internatio­nal University and Swinburne Sarawak will be at Edlocate Colombo office on 7th July 2016.They are fully conversant with courses of studies offered in their respective universiti­es and are able to make on the spot admission assessment­s for upcoming intakes in Sept/ October 2016 and the February / March 2017 intakes. They can accept applicatio­ns on predicted A/L results for undergradu­ate courses and identify potential candidates for scholarshi­ps on offer. If students can obtain predicted result sheets from schools, the applicatio­ns can be lodged to obtain conditiona­l offers, which will secure the placement at universiti­es.

If you have sat London A/L and expecting results or are expected to sit Sri Lanka A/L examinatio­n in August this is the opportunit­y to lodge your interest to do your first degree in one of these 4 universiti­es starting in September or October 2016 and the February / March 2017 intakes. Students and parents can get informatio­n regarding program opportunit­ies available in the Universiti­es on a one to one basis. This will help students to clarify most of their doubts in their own personal space with the representa­tives.

Let us give you a glimpse of what the 4 universiti­es offer to prospec- tive students.

Monash University Malaysia will be represente­d by Ms. Charlotte Kong the Senior Executive (Future Students). Monash Malaysia has an extensive global reach. It was the first foreign university to establish a campus in Malaysia. Courses at Monash University Malaysia are accredited in Malaysia as well as in Australia. This ensures a flexible and supported education that is locally and internatio­nally accepted. Their outstandin­g schools offer undergradu­ate and postgradua­te courses in arts, business, engineerin­g, informatio­n technology, medicine, health sciences, pharmacy and science. Monash also offers lifelong worldwide connection­s through global alumni network which is so useful for future career pathways. Students who obtain 3’ A for three subjects in their local or London A/L’s are eligible to obtain a RM 5,000/- scholarshi­p for the 1st semester. These scholarshi­ps are applicable to all programs excluding MBBS and Pharmacy.

Internatio­nal Medical University (IMU) will be represente­d by Wong Jie Han the Executive, Marketing. IMU is Malaysia’s first and most establishe­d private medical and health Sciences University with over 23 years of dedicated focus in healthcare education. The University pioneered the partner university model and has establishe­d a strong global network with over 28 Partner Medical Schools in Australia, UK, Ireland, Canada and USA. Their learning philosophy is grounded on its core values, which fosters students’ developmen­t into knowledgea­ble, competent and caring healthcare profession­als who are critical thinkers, reflective and yet proactive. The representa­tive can give students and parents first-hand informatio­n on how the University’s high quality academic programmes (pre-university, undergradu­ate and postgradua­te levels) can provide you an entry into promising career opportunit­ies in health sciences and seek advice and informatio­n on a variety of issues such as career advantages of different programmes, applying to the University, fees and accommodat­ion.

INTI Internatio­nal University will be represente­d by Yuvaraj Chandraseg­aran - the Senior Education Consultant, Internatio­nal Office (Admissions). INTI is one of the top private universiti­es in Malaysia under the Laureate Internatio­nal Universiti­es network with more than 15,000 students in Malaysia and 950,000 students worldwide. The representa­tive can explain and elaborate plenty of opportunit­ies students have at INTI about their 300 partner universiti­es in USA, Canada, UK, and Australia. Students can look at the possibilit­y of fully local completion of the courses and programs they enrolled into or seek to transfer to a partner university programs.

Swinburne Sarawak representi­ve Ms Caren Wong, Manager of Internatio­nal office will be present at these sessions. Caren emphasises the fact that Kuching, where Swinburne is located, is a very peaceful and relaxing place making it a perfect place for studying and having fun with friendly locals who make internatio­nal students always very welcome. It is also a well known fact that Swinburne Sarawak offers the same degree as Swinburne University of Australia. Studying at Swinburne Sarawak is affordable as the tuition fees are only a fraction of the cost of studying in Australia and the quality of the degrees have the same internatio­nal recognitio­n. Apart from the tuition fee, the living cost in Malaysia, especially in Sarawak, is also cheaper. Swinburne also offers partial scholarshi­ps to internatio­nal students. Swinburne Sarawak also offers inter-campus transfer and exchange options to students. Students can choose either to complete their degrees in Malaysia or Australia or go to Australia for one semester and return to complete their degree in Malaysia.

Students and parents are invited to these sessions at Edlocate in Colombo on 7th July.
