RMIT University Attracts Top Sri Lankan Students

-

RMIT University is proving to be an increasingly popular study choice for Sri Lankan students. In the last year, the number of Sri Lankan students choosing to study at RMIT doubled. This increase can be attributed to the high quality of education on offer at RMIT, as well as being located in the heart of Melbourne.

RMIT is a global university of technology and design, and Australia’s largest tertiary institution.RMIT is ranked among the top 15 universities in Australia and is also ranked in the top 100 universities in the world in the areas of accounting and finance, computer science and information systems, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering (2014 QS World University Rankings).

RMIT is conveniently located near Melbourne’s social, cultural, arts, sporting and transportation hubs. This central location means it is easy for students to find casual and part-time jobs in the area, to help support themselves throughout their studies.

RMIT recognises that as well as academic responsibility, university life is also about making friends, developing skills, connecting to the community, having fun and enjoying a memorable life experience. This is why RMIT offers a full and diverse program of social, cultural, fitness and recreation activities – from gym and sporting facilities, to cultural and social trips and experiences.

Sanjaka Perera who recently completed his Associate Degree in Fashion & Textile erchandising at RMIT is not surprised that more and more Sri Lankan students are choosing to study at RMIT.

Sanjaka tells us “RMIT is a reputed university in Sri Lanka as well as globally recognised. The program that I picked offers just what I needed and noother places in Melbourne offered the same program.”

Sankaja believes that Melbourne is a great place to be a student and tells us that“Melbourne is one of the most liveable cities in the world with a strong background in arts and culture, sports, festivals and fashion. It is any students dream to be in Melbourne.”

The most recent round of the Australian Research Council’s (ARC) Excellence in Research Australia exercise placed RMIT among the top five Australian universities for excellence in key research disciplines.

In partnership with industry and communities across the world, RMIT research students get the chance to work on commercial researchprojects that drive change for a better future.
