SLT Tuskers and Crown Sharks in contention for title

SLT Tuskers are in contention to grab the win of the inaugural Sri Lanka Premier Tennis League (SLPTL) which is being played at the Queens Club in Colombo, by yesterday. The Tuskers are in the lead with 57 game wins, followed closely behind by Crown Sharks who are with 51 wins. Behind the top two are Cargills Eagles with 43 wins and NSB Jaguars with 29 wins.

The first-ever franchise-based competitio­n started off last Thursday and is set to come to an exciting end today. So far it has produced thrilling and enthrallin­g games, with the participat­ion of former National champions, Davis Cup and Junior players, making the the competitio­n exciting.

Each team consist of a manager, a captain, a men’s player, two women players, two veteran players and a corporate player. The matches were played in a round robin format and a tie consist of five sets -- men’s and women’s singles, an open double, a junior boy’s singles and a veteran’s double.
