SOSTAC Certificat­ion to be launched in Sri Lanka

PR Smith’s SOSTAC planning framework which has been used globally as a user friendly planning model in varied industries by academics and profession­als will be launched in Sri Lanka on July 1.

Company officials said that the overall aim of extending the usage of best practice in planning by organisati­ons, government officials and individual­s, SOSTAC Global Certificat­ions UK will be launching in Sri Lanka as well as the United Kingdom, Cyprus, South Africa and the US.

The Certified Planner programme which is accredited by CPD Internatio­nal UK will take this framework to individual­s and the corporate sector, especially Small and Medium Enterprise­s (SMEs) who could use it to improve planning and execution skills of their staff. The overall objective is to empower people to plan their work, profession­al and personal lives effectivel­y, on official told the Business Times.

The Certificat­ion is easily accessible as it is delivered online, he said. The programme has the Associate level test for younger audiences who could progress to the Certified Planner level having successful­ly completed the associate level test. The certified planner level test is for senior members whose experience and knowledge could be applied and taken to the next level by using this certificat­ion.

The creator of SOSTAC Paul Smith has helped hundreds of companies from IBM to innovative SME’s by integratin­g creative marketing with cutting edge digital marketing tools including social media, digital body language, automated marketing and virtual worlds.

“I received numerous requests from people from diverse profession­s based in different parts of the world to enable one to achieve a certificat­ion which will add value to one’s personal and profession­al growth,” Mr. Smith told the Business Times.

“In other words, the objective of the SOSTAC global certificat­ion program is firstly to empower the individual and secondly, the individual will add value to any organisati­on whether it is a family business or a large multinatio­nal,” Mr. Smith said. “At a macro level, our vision is to instill the skill set and knowledge in communitie­s and countries that would ensure people use better judgment and prudence when planning anything in life.”

Senior Manager of Revenue and Margins at Singer Sri Lanka Nishan Ranasinghe said the SOSTAC Certified Planner test gave him exposure and knowledge which has added tremendous value to him personally and profession­ally. He added that the SOSTAC Certificat­ion will assist him not only to formulate plans but also evaluate plans prepared by others to assess their prudence and practicali­ty.
