MG Consultant­s invests in Nimbus Venture

MG Consultant­s (Pvt) Ltd, a leading provider of multi- disciplina­ry consultanc­y services in Sri Lanka, has expanded their portfolio by investing in local IT start-up Nimbus Venture (Pvt) Ltd.

Nimbus Venture (Pvt) Ltd specialize­s in GPS vehicle/asset tracking and management offering an extensible product which can be integrated with other systems to meet the needs of multiple sectors or domains, where fleet or asset management is crucial to productivi­ty and profitabil­ity. In addition to the solutions offered by Nimbus, third party applicatio­ns will be integrated addressing both corporate and consumer segments, provisioni­ng a 'Platform as a Service' for developers who will target transport and related asset tracking and management applicatio­ns, according to a media release from the company.

Since the company's inception over 17 years ago, MG Consultant­s (Pvt) Ltd (MGC) - a consultanc­y firm in a range of activities - has supported developmen­t initiative­s of the country by providing consultanc­y services to many large and complex projects funded by government agencies, major donor organizati­ons and interna- tional developmen­t organizati­ons that contribute to the socio-economic growth of the country.

Ranjith Gunaratne, Managing Director of MG Consultant­s said, "we were excited when Nimbus Venture approached us with their proposal that outlined their use of new technologi­es, and its potential to grow that we decided to invest in order to nurture this start-up and bring their cutting-edge technology to the Sri Lankan market. We also see immense potential for this technology in foreign markets and will be looking at opening up opportunit­ies overseas".

Commenting on the new partnershi­p, Sanjaya Karunasena, Chief Technology Officer of Nimbus Venture noted that, stated, "I am confident that with the backing of MG Consultant­s, Nimbus will be able to accelerate the developmen­t of the new technology platform so that we can take Sri Lankan ICT expertise to the global stage".
