Based in the heart of Colombo, currently UCL is in an exclusive partnershi­p with Monash College, Australia, to provide pathways for students to pursue their higher education at Monash University. Monash is ranked 73rd in the world. Apart from being the top100 University globally, Monash is one of the best universiti­es in Australia as well - part of the G8 Universiti­es, and ranked #1 in Engineerin­g and Technology in Australia. This makes UCL-Monash one of the top-ranked internatio­nal partnershi­ps in Sri Lankan education sector, with high potential for institutio­nal growth.

UCL is the brainchild of the three founders - South Asian businessma­n Mr. Bob Kundanmal, who heads the Sino Lanka Group of Companies, comprising of hotels, hospitals and internatio­nal schools, Gateway Group of Organisati­ons Chairman Dr. Harsha Alles, and The Boston Consulting Group Partner and Managing Director Mr. Zarif Munir.

Monash University Foundation Year (MUFY) is a preunivers­ity program that prepares students for entry into first year at Monash University. It allows students pick subjects and tailor their studies to suit the university degree they would like to pursue in the future. After completing the Foundation Year, and achieving the required minimum marksto start a degree, the student is guaranteed a place in the first year of your chosen undergradu­ate degree at Monash University. The standard and curriculum for the MUFY program is world-renowned, and it is accepted as an entry qualificat­ion in many Australian Universiti­es.

Intakes are in January and July, and it takes about 10 months to complete the course over two semesters. Studying English is compulsory, but students get to choose from a variety of subjects, including Mathematic­s, Economics, Accounting, Chemistry, ICT and Globalizat­ion. The subject selection is tailored so that students gather the knowledge required to excel in the degree program which they would commence after a year.

UCL recently finished the first term of the MUFY program, and the results were officially released in June 2016. This term has seen exceptiona­l results. UCL has very good pass rates in all units and in some units we rank #1 among all Monash College providers. Below is a summary of the MUFY results. 100% pass rate in 4 (out of 7) units delivered at UCL 86%-100% pass rate in 6 (out of 7) units delivered at UCL 91% average pass rate considerin­g all units delivered at UCL 44% students at UCL have received a HD (highest grade possible) No cases of cheating or plagiarism

No cases of missed or deferred exams

Many students who complete MUFY opt to do the Diploma in Business, Engineerin­g or IT here at UCL, Sri Lanka. However, students interested in going to Monash University immedi- ately after MUFY may pursue degrees or double degrees in the following faculties: Business and Economics Engineerin­g Informatio­n Technology Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences Science Art, Design and Architectu­re Education Law Pharmacy

UCL lecturers world-class and are hired after a rigorous interview process, and officially confirmed by Monash College. Currently on the panel there are 6 PhDs, and the rest are MSc/MBA qualified, and most have either studied or taught at reputed US, UK or Australian Universiti­es. UCL is confident that the students will receive the best possible support and guidance throughout the program. A pool of reputed visiting lecturers also supports the teaching panel, especially in areas that need industrial experience. Having an experience­d panel enriches the student learning experience and helps in providing expert counseling, when necessary.
