Located in the suburbs of Malabe, South Asian Institute of Technology and Medicine (SAITM) is an institution of advance learning that commenced its programmes of activities in 2009 and which provides opportunities for tertiary level education in five faculties comprising of Management and Finance, Medicine, Engineering, and ICT and Media and the newly established Faculty of Allied Health and Behavioural Sciences. (FAHS)

Faculty of Allied Health and Behavioural Sciences envisions on being a front runner in undergraduate programs for students pursuing careers in Allied Health and Behavioural Sciences. FAHS is dedicated to attract, develop, and sustain a highly qualified and specialized faculty that demonstrates excellence through teaching/learning, research, and service. The Faculty nurtures an academic atmosphere that encourages critical analysis, creative thinking, and commitment to lifelong learning. Three bachelor’s degree programmes namely; Bachelor of Pharmaceutical and Pharmacological Sciences, Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Science in Nursing will be offered in the near future. In addition to above degree programmes, faculty had already initiated a Higher Diploma Programme for medical and pharmaceutical delegates.

Medical and pharmaceutical sales representatives are significantly involved in introduction of new drugs, medicine or medically related products to the market in our country. However, currently within Sri Lanka there is no professional training or certification from a recognized university or degree awarding institute for these professionals. Therefore SAITM had initiated first ever higher diploma in medical and health product management in Sri Lanka aiming to provide skilled qualified drug and health production specialists to deliver rational pharmacological and pharmaceutical knowledge to the industry. The pur- pose of this qualification is to offer an intensive, focused education in a particular area of specialization to meet the requirements of the industry. The qualification holders will have a deep understanding of theory, practice, relevant methodology and recent developments in a particular area of study. The Diploma holders will be able to apply the concepts and principles in the area of study, analyze information and suggest solutions to problems at their places of employment, thus maxising their potential.
