Sunquick joins hands with the National Bartenders Competitio­n 2016

The hospitalit­y industry of Sri Lanka is getting ready to experience and enjoy the creativene­ss and innovation­s of bartenders in Sri Lanka, on 22nd July 2016 at Waters Edge. The competitio­n has been an annual event for the past 24 years.

The Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Associatio­n, together with the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management and Tourist Hotels Associatio­n, are the principal organisers of the National Bartenders Competitio­n 2016.

The joint sponsors of the event are, Imperial Beverages (Pvt.) Ltd, Lion Brewery and Sunquick of Scan Products.

The Bartenders Competitio­n has been s O st h ingrained into the Cocktail industry today and it is a popular event worldwide. This type of competitio­n can have a great impact on the standards of the local food and beverage sector and its enhancemen­t in the internatio­nal arena. The 2016 competitio­n is being held in 8 Regions as shown below.

The Colombo Hotel School competitio­n was held on the 1st of June at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management while the Negombo regional competitio­n was held on the 13th of June at the Club Palm Bay Hotel. The Colombo regional competitio­n was hosted at the Ramada on the 15th of June with the Earl’s Regency hosting the regional competitio­n in Kandy on the 20th of June. Competitio­ns yet to be held are those in the Cultural Triangle, Passikudah, Down South and Deep-Down South which will be held at the Habarana Village, Amaya Beach Hotel, Eden Resort & Spa and the Heritance Hotel in Ahungalla respective­ly. A Seminar and Competitio­n is held in each region. The morning session is an enhancemen­t of Beverage knowledge and how to create one’s own beverage designs. In the afternoon it is a chance for innovation seeing our Bartenders create their own ideas with beverages. Sunquick plays an important role in this exercise.

The organizers began the preliminar­y competitio­n on the 1st of June 2016 and their schedule is to cover eight major regions in the country, giving opportunit­ies to a wide spectrum of bartenders. The lucky winners at the Grand Final will get the chance to represent Sri Lanka at the Internatio­nal Bartenders Competitio­n 2016 and Asia Pacific Competitio­n in Singapore.
