People’s Bank 55th Anniversar­y - Series of religious programs

Commemorat­ing the People’s Bank 55th Anniversar­y, People’s Bank Buddhist Associatio­n, Hindu Associatio­n, Muslim Majlis and Christians Guild made arrangemen­ts to hold a series of religious programs at the People’s Bank Head Office.

The meritoriou­s act organised by the People’s Bank Buddhist Associatio­n was held on the 1st and the 2nd of July. Under this, an allnight pirith sermon was held on July 1st and on the next day, an almsgiving ceremony for 55 priests was held.

Honorable Patron of the People’s Bank Buddhist Associatio­n, Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya and Chief incumbent of Peliyagoda Vidyalanka­ra Pirivena, Dr. Walamitiya­we Kusaladham­ma thero and the Chief incumbent of Colombo Fort Sambuddhal­oka Viharaya, Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Pali and Buddhism, Professor Iththadema­liye Indasara thero provided patronage for the series of religious programs.

A programme for all the religions, organized by the People’s Bank Hindu Associatio­n, Muslim Majlis and Christians Guild, was held on the 4th of July. At this ceremony, the Hindu divine offerings were given by the Reverend Kurukal of the Bambalapit­iya Srinivasan while the Islamic holy mass was conducted by Deshabandh­u Rev. Kaari Faiszal Hassan Maulavi of Colombo Dawatagaha Jumma Islamic mosque and the Catholic holy mass was conducted by Fr. Rev. Nalin Suraj of Kongodamul­la church in Katana District.
