Horizon Campus offers Scholarshi­ps in Maldives

24 Undergradu­ate Scholarshi­ps worth US $ 150,000.00 on offer for deserving Maldivian students

HORIZON CAMPUS, Sri Lanka’s only triple accredited private university awarded24 undergradu­ate scholarshi­ps to the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education Scholarshi­p scheme 2016.

The official handing over of 24 Undergradu­ate Degree Scholarshi­ps to Study in Horizon Campus, Sri Lanka took place at the Department of Higher Education of the Maldives Ministry of Education, Velaanaage, Male’ on Wednesday 15 June 2016.

Chairman of Horizon Group-Sri Lanka, Mr. Upul Daranagama officially handed over the scholarshi­ps to the Honorable Minister of Education, Dr.Aishath Shiham and Honorable Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. Azleen Ahmed, in the presence of DirectorDe­partment of Higher Education, Mr.Ibrahim Naseem, Director General at the Department of Higher Education, Ms.Fathimath Amira and Vice Chancellor of Horizon Campus, Sri Lanka, Professor Colin N. Peiris.

Horizon College of Business and Technology (Pvt) Ltd (Horizon Campus) Sri Lanka is a nationally and internatio­nally recognized private higher education institute which offers 15 accredited degree courses to more than 400 students annually. It is recognized as a Degree Awarding Institute by the Ministry of Higher Education, Sri Lanka and recognized by University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka as a Private Higher Education Service Provider. Further, it is a Member of the Associatio­n of Commonweal­th Universiti­es.

The Ministry of Education will have the discretion on the selection process. However, recipients must meet basic entry requiremen­ts.. The selected recipients can study for a UGC Sri Lanka accredited Undergradu­ate Degree Courses from Bachelor of Education (Hons), B.Sc. (Hons) Business Management – HRM, Bachelor of Business Management (Hons)- Marketing or B.Sc. (Hons) in Informatio­n Technology. These Scholarshi­ps will be valid from October 2016 intake.

Speaking at the occasion, Vice Chancellor Professor Colin N. Peiris highlighte­d how the TRIPLE ACCREDITED status (recognitio­n by Ministry of Higher Education, University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka and Associatio­n of Commonweal­th Universiti­es) of Horizon Campus guarantees students of a nationally and internatio­nally recognized qualificat­ion, which will open doors to global career and further education opportunit­ies.

Professor Peiris mentioned that the cordial discussion­s held between the Honorable Deputy Minister of Education Mr. Azleen Ahmed, Director General at the Department of Higher Education Ms. Fathimath Amira and CEO of the MQA, Mr. Mohamed Waheed Hussain in February 2016, was the genesis of this grant to the Ministry.
