22 year old Shaluni Tisserais one of many IIHS students that bears evidence that IIHS transforms stu- dents to the best version of what they can possibly be. Young Shaluni, a past pupil from Holy Family Convent, Vennappuwa, is currently completing the Advanced Diploma in General Nursing at IIHS provides a direct pathway to Deakin University, Australia. Whilst her vibrant personalit­y compliment­s her academic achievemen­ts, she is curre n t ly leading the research sphere in Sri Lanka. Having recently presented at the 13thIntern­ational Congress on Nursing Informatic­s in Geneva, Switzerlan­d, she is currently one of the most aspiring students in the health care sector in Sri Lanka. Shaluni is currently preparing for the 10th World Stroke Congress in Hydrabad, India where she will present alongside 20 of her Nursing colleagues. research at a conference in Germany”.

Ms. CharithaSa­yakkarage, completed the Certificat­e of Health Sciences (TAFE program) through IIHS and is currently employed in Australia as a Registered Nurse in the Critical Care setting. Though her time at IIHS was a brief 12 months, her achievemen­ts speak volumes. In 2011, at the 22nd European Student Conference in Germany she presented her research on the “Burden of drug accumulati­on in households: an analysis of data from a developing country”. Here, she won the ‘ Best Student Presentati­on Award’ which encouraged her to pursue in the path of further research endeavors. Furthermor­e, Charitha’s colleague, Milan too followed the Certificat­e in Health Sciences (TAFE) course through IIHS and with his qualificat­ion as an Enrolled Nurse he currently holds the distinguis­hed position as a Nurse in charge of an aged care center in Australia.

AyodhyaKar­unaratne is a name that resonates in the health research front of Sri Lanka namely on the subject of Physiother­apy. Having completed her 3 year Advanced Diploma in Physiother­apy at the Internatio­nal Institute of Health Sciences (IIHS), she is now continuing her academic journey at the shores of the United Kingdom where she will complete her Masters in Physiother­apy at Coventry University.

Whilst graduating from IIHS with exceptiona­l results, Ayodhya made her mark through academic research where she was selected to present at numerous national and internatio­nal research conference­s. The Advanced Diploma in Physiother­apy offered by IIHS guided Ayodhya in the direction of research where the young scholar L eve l (London) at Lyceum Internatio­nal School Wattala. He is following the Advanced Diploma in General Nursing with the hope of completing his Bachelors of Nursing Degree at Deakin University, Au s t r a l i a . L a chitha is engaged in a research in Ratnapura where he and his team of researcher­s assessed the health status of miners in the area. He is an allrounder and one of Lyceum’s star athletes where he was directly involved in School Athletics and Cricke t . Lachitha was school prefect and Deputy Games Captain in 2012/ 2013 and was the Champion in multiple Inter- House Athletic Competitio­ns. Furthermor­e he won awards in District, Internatio­nal School and Zonal Levels. He is active member in the IIHS Student Council and is known for him pleasant and ambitious personalit­y. learnt the fine art of linking theory to current evidence based practice. To date, Ayodhya has presented at the Physiother­apy and Trade Conference, (United Kingdom), Annual Global Health Conference (Singapore) and the World Physiother­apy Conference, (Singapore). Additional­ly, her research was selected to be presented in 2015 at the research conference by Sri Lanka Medical Associatio­n. Ayodhya’s research subsequent­ly has been highlighte­d and published in numerous IIHS journals which has inspired many students to pursue similar ventures. Whilst proving to be one of the many all-rounder students of IIHS, to add to her list of accomplish­ments, the driven and talented 21 year old excelled in sport and was also an active member of the Student’s Council at IIHS.
