ACCA offers special scheme for students completing O/L & A/L examinations

-

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants(ACCA) Sri Lankanow offers theopportunity to students in the country completing their O/Level and A/Level the chance to study for the ACCA qualification by waiving off 59 pounds from the Initial Registration fee and the First Year Subscription fee.

This special scheme is to facilitate students who are keenly looking at following a professional qualification in Accountancy and encourage them to grab this opportunity towards the global qualification. ACCA believes that students would make use of this opportunity.

With ACCA’s core values being Opportunity, Diversity, Innovation, Accountability and Integrity we are keen to provide opportunity and access to people of and high quality talent and ability around the world by supporting them throughout their careers in accounting, business and finance by gaining the ACCA membership upon acquiring the qualification. Hence, the special scheme offered for O/L and A/L students is launched with the aim of facilitating this vision.

Offering a range of benefits that surpasses many others, the ACCA qualification not only provides specialist knowledge in finance and accounting but also enables candidates to acquire valuable skills in organizational management and strategy, as the course covers traditional auditing as well as the finer aspects of Financial Management. Designed to provide accounting knowledge, skills, and professional values to finance professionals, to understand the financial needs of business and to evaluate and present effective business solutions, whether in the public or private sector, in accounting firms or in business, it has a strong focus on professional values, ethics and governance.

The ACCA Qualification also comes along with the possibility of gaining a recognized academic qualification, namely the BSc. (Hons) in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University, UK, which is offered in partnership with ACCA. Upon completion of the Skills Level, students can submit a Research and Analysis Project and gain this BSc. (Hons) degree even before they complete ACCA.

Therefore by the end of 2 ½ years, a student would have the ACCA professional qualification, and be a work-ready professional. Moreover, once the student completes ACCA, they also have the opportunity to gain a MSc. in Professional Accountancy from the University of London.

The Head of ACCA for Sri Lanka and Maldives Mrs. Nilusha Ranasinghe said “As a global leader in the profession, it is our duty to train the talented students in our country to build successful careers as finance professionals and to playan important role in any industry in bothour private and public sectors, as advocates of sound business practices and champions of sustainable business development. Our wide ranging and forward looking syllabus, recognizes the fact that finance professionals are increasingly required to demonstrate strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, people skills and fluency with information technology. Our qualification is designed to encompass all these factors. We recognize that high quality talented individuals need to be armed with a degree that will compliment their competencies and our aim was to make our qualification that matches this criteria more accessible to such students.”
