Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology presents Open Day 2016

-

Science is a fascinating subject that many of us are introduced to at a young age. However, not many of us are aware of the sophisticated fields of science that have evolvedin the recent past. This includes the study of genetics, biological chemistry, cell biology, nanotechnology and immunology among many. These sophisticated and fine fields of science are very much buzzing with activity here in Sri Lanka as well. The Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the University of Colombo (IBMBB) is a research institute that is continuously pushing the boundaries of scientific research by engaging in such areas of cutting-edge scientific research.

The Institute of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of the University of Colombo was born on the 28th of April 2004. The institute became a reality through the tireless work and dedication of an elite panel of educationists in Sri Lanka and Sweden. The partnership between the two countries were strengthened and resulted in the establishment of this prestigious institute that officially marked the entrance of the sophisticated field of molecular biology in to the Sri Lankan science and education sphere.

The IBMBB now presents the general public with the opportunity to witness these fields of science through its fourth annual open day. The open day will be hosted on the 2nd of September 2016 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and will be held at the IBMBB located on Thurston Road in Colombo 03. So what can you see and expect at the open day? Take a tour of our world class research laboratories, meet with current students and scientific researchers, speak with our distinguished and internationally recognized faculty, learn more about the educationand employment in the field of biological sciences and the research activities conducted and how you or your organization can be a part of it.

So don’t miss this unique opportunity to visit a world class science and research facility!
