Gateway students continue to shine at Edexcel International GCSE and Advanced Level examinations
One student with 13 A Stars and another with 12 A Stars at IGCSE Two students with 11 A Stars at IGCSE Nineteen students receive 7 A Stars or more at IGCSE Fifteen students with 4 As or more at AS Level One student with 5 A Stars at Advanced Level Six students with 3 A Stars or more at Advanced Level Five students assured of world prizes Gateway students have once again achieved outstanding academic results at the Edexcel IGCSE, AS and AL examinations. At the Edexcel 2016 examinations of which the results have just been released, Anuttara Jayasekera has obtained 13 A Stars at IGCSE. Dunisha Jayaweera ( 12 A stars), Anudi Jayawardena & Ayesha Sameer ( 11 A Stars), Akash Ranasinghe, Devma Kaggodaarachchi, Hasini Hewapathirana, Kavindi Perera, Kumindu Gamage, Shalinda Perera ( 10 A stars) are among the other top achievers. In addition to these students, Channaka Herath, Janeshi Athauda and Shaniya Fernando who achieved 9 A Stars each have also qualified to receive academic scholarships from Gateway for their Advanced Level studies.
Four students Dodi al- Fayed, Ushan Munasinghe, Shashindra Jayakody, Pulasthi Peiris and Philip Surendran secured 8 A Stars each. Also among the other high achievers are Upamada Senanayake, Chulaksha Punchihewa, Kavindi Sumathiratne, Samyuuktha Muralitharan, Javier Jayawardena who obtained 7 A Stars each.
At AS level Kiyamudeen Fahumudeen got 5 A grades, while Malisha Dimithri Marasinghe, Buddhini Ranasinghe, Divya Dharmakeerthie, Isuru Abeyasekara, Senith Wanigasuriya, Madurshan Rajayogeswaran, Nadhira Salman, Kavya Weerasinghe, Radhika Balasubramaniam, Diyane Fernando, Binaru Appuhamy, Shalomi Perera Kurukulasuriya, Kavindya Perera and Nisal Ovitigala achieved 4 A grades each.
At Advanced Level, Nirmani Rathnayake obtained 5 A stars while Amanda Weerasinghe received 4 A Stars. Nelumi Jayasundara, Viyath Wasala, Mohammed Naleef and Shenelli Croos Dabrera received 3 A Stars each.
Several Gateway students are expected to receive world prizes. Even though subject prizes are not announced yet, five students are already assured of securing world prizes by virtue of obtaining 100% marks in certain subjects. Such awards recipients include Amanda Weerasinghe and Nelumi Jayasundara in AL Mathematics, Aditi Randeni and Keshin Karunarathne in GCSE Business Communications and Sadeepa Palihawadana in GCSE Japanese.
