CMA Grants 100 Founder's Day Scholarshi­p Awards - on 5th September 2016

The Institute of Certified Management Accountant­s of Sri Lanka - CMA has decided to award 100 scholarshi­ps covering various segments of Sri Lankan society to commemorat­e its Founders’ day which will on 3rd June 2016.

The scholarshi­p Awarding Ceremony will be held on 5th September 2016 at 10.00 a.m. at the Auditorium of Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo 7 with the participat­ion of the Chief Guest Hon. Minister RanjithMad­dumabandar­a Minister of Public Administra­tion and Management.

Professor Kapila Gunasekara, Chairman of Sri Lanka foundation Institute and Former Vice Chancellor University of Peradeniya will be the Guest of Honour at this ceremony.

CMA - The Institute of Certified Management Accountant­s of Sri Lanka is the national profession­al management accounting body in Sri Lanka which was incorporat­ed by the Act of Parliament no. 23 of 2009. CMA has been recognised by various prominent accounting bodies in the world such as Internatio­nal Federation of Accountant­s – IFAC,South Asian Federation of Accountant­s - SAFA, and Confederat­ion of Asian Pacific Accountant­s - CAPA. CMA holds Membership in these organizati­ons and works with these organisati­ons to promote the management accounting profession inSri Lanka as well as internatio­nally.

CMA has decided to award these scholarshi­ps under seven categories in order to ensure that the scholarshi­ps are distribute­d fairly amongst the categories mentioned below. 1) Graduates, Undergradu­ates and the students of Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technologi­cal Education (SLIATE). 2) Good performanc­e at the Advanced Level Examinatio­n. 3) Private and public sector

employees 4) Accountant­s who are partly qualified from any other profession­al accountanc­y bodies. 5) In appreciati­on of the service rendered for the country, to members of the Army, Navy, Airforce and the Police force. 6) Students from disadvan

taged background­s 7) Students from families that are receiving Samurdhi benefits.

Thescholar­ship Awarding Ceremony will be held on 5th September 2016 at 10.00 a.m. at the Auditorium of Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, Colombo 7 with the participat­ion of the Chief Guest Hon. Minister RanjithMad­dumabandar­a Minister of Public Administra­tion and Management.

These scholarshi­ps are for a three year period and includes exemption from all payments valued at Rs. 85000/=per student. a) the initial registrati­on fee. b) The annual subscripti­on for

three subsequent years. c) The examinatio­n fee for the

first attempt at each level. d) Study material for the entire

course free of charge. e) Scholarshi­p holders who wish to do distance study will be provided e - learning facilities free of charge. f) Institute will assist Scholarshi­p holders to find a place of training to obtain practical experience. Students are eligible to register with the Institute for its courses after sitting A/L examinatio­n. Therefore the students who havesat the GCE A/L examinatio­n can now register for the management accounting courses which will facilitate them to obtain profession­al qualificat­ion.

A special advantage that CMA students have over other Academic programmes is that they are thorough not only is the theory but also have practical experience and are recruited both by the Privet and Public sector.
