Chartered Accountant Vindya Cooray heads new Governing Council of the Young Chartered Accountant­s Forum (YCAF)

The Young Chartered Accountant­s Forum (YCAF) Governing Council for the year 2016/17 was appointed recently with Chartered Accountant Ms. VindyaCoor­ay being at the helm and heading the Forum as it’s new President.

President of the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) Mr. Lasantha Wickremasi­nghe speaking at the General Assembly of YCAF emphasized that every country, organizati­on and family needs a younger generation to continue its existence and the same applies to a profession.

“To ensure the continued progressio­n of our profession, we need highly intelligen­t and skilled members for our existence, and our profession has been truly fortunate to have both intelligen­ce and skills in our young members,” he told members of the YCAF which comprises of chartered accountant­s who are below 40 years of age.

Mr. Wickremasi­nghe said that as the young generation of the chartered accounting profession, it was the responsibi­lity of the young members not to limit to dischargin­g their duties only to the organizati­on they serve for, but they should also play an active role in helping steer and ensuring that the prestigiou­s legacy CA Sri Lanka commands today continues in the future.

“Although we always look up to our seniors for guidance, it is ultimately the dynamic younger generation that will steer us to the future, hence ensuring that you are second to none is your institute’s primary duty,” he said.

He also congratula­ted YCAF including its outgoing YCAF President Dulitha Perera for the dynamic role played in uniting young CA Sri Lanka members.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Cooray said that young chartered accountant­s play a vital role in shaping the future. “So the aim of YCAF is to provide a platform for young members to develop their leadership and entreprene­urial skills by conducting various programmes in these areas and providing them opportunit­ies to network with their fellow colleagues,” she said.

During the General Assembly Mr. ThilanWije­singhe Co-Founder of wow. lk and Former Chairman of The Board of Investment, Sri Lanka, made a guest presentati­on where he shared his experience and thoughts on the importance of technology & social media in the new era.
