Diploma Awards Ceremony-2016

National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) conducted its 34th Diploma Awards Ceremony on 30 & 31 August 2016 at BMICH Main Assembly Hall. NIBM Diploma Awards Ceremony is an important and a colourful event for which more than 2800 Diploma Awardees and their parents will be attended.

Established in the year 1968, with a vision to be the best management education institute in Sri Lanka, NIBM has played a pioneering role for over 48 years, in helping realize its vision by producing versatile professionals ranging from corporate leaders to entrepreneurs. Incorporated as the National Institute of Business Management by Act of Parliament in June 1976, the institute which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Skills Development and Vocational Training, takes great pride in its standing as a self-sustained organization, which is internationally recognized, and has also received various national and international level accolades, by winning the Merit Award of the National Quality Award (NQA), which was further boosted when it received the ISO – 9001-2008 certificate in recognition of its excellence of service in the education world.

NIBM, over its 47 years of operations has greatly contributed to develop competencies of individuals to meet the challenges of the emerging knowledge and skills based economy. It caters to the increasing competency requirements of professionals in both public and private sectors. The institute conducts around 30 Diploma programmes, in different disciplines of businesses by reflecting its diverse approach in competency development.

NIBM trains more than 14,000 participants from different business sectors in a given year. This year, 2800 students were awarded diploma and higher diploma in the fields of management, IT and English, with its branch network of Galle, Kandy, Matara andKurunegala, For the diploma holders, this occasion is a significant milestone in their lives. It was a proud day for them for their families, friends and of course, for the faculty of NIBM who guided them to successfully attain their Diplomas.

NIBM has declared 2016 as aYEAR OF QUALITY and upgraded its all diploma programmes in line with Sri Lanka Quality Framework (SLQF) of University Grants Commissions (UGC) and NVQ. NIBM has performed very well in both in its operations and the financial goals. Although our primary aim is to serve mother Lanka, we have managed to become an excellent model to all other government organizations, by reporting a very healthy profit margin in the past years. No further evidence is necessary to show that we know what Business Management is and that is what we share with each and every student who gets the opportunity to walk through our gates.

National School of Business Management (NSBM), the degree school of NIBM is now under construction with an investment of LKR 10.2 billion. NSBM will be ceremonially open on 27th October 2016 with the participation of His Excellency the President and the Prime Minster. On-Campus capacity of the NSBM is 30,000 students and it is a fully fledgedgreen university town with all modern facilities. NSBM as defined by its mission is a creative and innovative school of future generations. NSBM will drive under the themes of innovation, entrepreneurship, technology and globalization to direct the country towards knowledge based globalized economy, while creating synergies with existing body of knowledge after considering the needs of 21st century Management and Information Technology education.
