UK increases Chevening Scholarshi­ps for Sri Lanka

The United Kingdom (UK) has increased the number of Chevening Scholarshi­ps for Sri Lanka, for the second consecutiv­e year, the British High Commission (HC) said.

The increase in awards was announced at a reception hosted at the British HC’s residence on September 1, where 8 Sri Lankan scholars were presented certificat­es.

This year’s scholars will travel to the UK on fully funded Scholarshi­ps to read for 1 year Masters courses in Politics, Environmen­tal Design & Engineerin­g, Finance, Internatio­nal Business & Management, Law, Developmen­t & Globalisat­ion and Gender Studies, the HC said in a press release.

"These scholarshi­ps represent a significan­t investment from the UK government to help develop the next generation of leaders in Sri Lanka," the HC added.

Chevening Scholarshi­ps are awarded to individual­s with demonstrab­le leadership potential, who also have strong academic background­s. The Scholarshi­ps offer financial support to study for a Master’s Degree at any UK university.
