Special Award for BCAS from the International Organisation QSi

-

The leading private educational institution in Sri Lanka BCAS Campus has been presented with a special award titled “Academic Impact winner” by the internationally-recognised organization QSi based in the UK. The award was presented at its conference held in Qatar on 07 September 2016. BCAS Campus was selected for this award by the organisation for opening up new learning opportunities and contribution for continued career development in the field of Quantity surveying.

The QSi established to assist the professionals in Quantity Surveying in 2004 now commands a worldwide network. It conducts a variety of programmes and projects every year and QSi conference is an important among them. The conference is generally held only in the UK but they chose Qatar as this year’s venue keeping in view of the country’s rapidly growing construction industry and the great contribution made by QS experts there.

BCAS Campus has cultivated trust and glory for the last 18+ years locally and internationally in private education sector. Besides Sri Lanka, BCAS Campus also caters to those employed in the Middle East, especially, Qatar and Oman by affording facilities to get themselves qualified in the field of Quantity Surveying. They are not Sri Lankans alone, but are of several other nationalities including the Arabs.

Of the job-guaranteed study courses BCAS offers, Quantity Surveying ranks first. It is noteworthy to mention here that it was BCAS that first introduced QS course in 2005 as a private educational institution. Until then the University of Moratuwa was the sole state institution that was offering the course at degree level. For more than a decade now, BCAS as a private institution stands tall in Sri Lanka in offering Bachelor’s as well as Master’s degrees in the field of QS.

The course is delivered at three different levels, BTEC HND, Top-up Degree (BSc Hons) and MSc in collaboration with the Edexcel UK (now Pearson) and the University of Wolverhampton. Thus the students are awarded the direct internal qualifications by the Edexcel, UK and thereafter the degree by the University of Wolverhampton, UK. The degrees have duly been recognized by the University Grants Commission. Further the said degrees are accredited by the globally accepted professional bodies such as RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) and CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building.)

In addition to QS, BCAS Campus also offers courses in Civil Engineering, Computing, Business Management, Law, Bio-medical Science and Electrical & Electronic Engineering at various levels (BTEC HND, Top-up degree, etc.). Students can follow the course of their choice at any BCAS Campus located in Colombo, Mount Lavinia, Kandy, Kurunagala, Jaffna, Batticaloa or Kalmunai according to their convenience.

Along with the special award presented now by QSi organization in Qatar, BCAS Campus has also been awarded trophies and certificates for its excellence by other organizations, too, in the past. Notable of them are the award presented by the Sri Lanka’s prioneering Business Magazine LMD in 2015 for emerging first amongst the private higher educational institutions in Sri Lanka by the survey it conducted and the awarded presented in London in July 2016 by the Edexcel (Pearson), UK.
