Collectors' Desk continues support for Lankan art
Collectors’ Desk, organised by ARTRA Magazine & Saskia Fernando Gallery in collaboration with The Residences at One Galle Face, Shangrila Hotel & Resorts, is a series of curated art events that takes place in the form of quarterly art talks, panels, tours and presentations by eminent international and local professionals in the field of art. The invitee-only event caters to an audience interested in impacting the growth of the local art scene.
The third edition of Collectors' Desk will see a discussion on contemporary Sri Lankan art and recent developments internationally by Azara Jaleel, Founder & Editor of ARTRA Magazine and Saskia Fernando, Founder of Saskia Fernando Gallery and Art Space Sri Lanka. The event will take place on September 30 at One Galle Face followed by an exhibition and tour of curated works of art by leading contemporary artists Ruwan Prasanna, Nadia Haji Omar, Prageeth Manohansa and Priyantha Udagedara displayed in the show apartment of The Residences at One Galle Face, Shangri La Hotels & Resorts.
With the emergence of the Sri Lankan contemporary art scene over the past few years, it has become pertinent that information focusing on the subjects of art and design appreciation and investment are communicated to collectors and professionals from all industries in Sri Lanka. The growth of any art scene takes place alongside economic development and it is essential that the corporate sector as well as investor and diplomatic communities sustain the local art scene’s growth.
