Musaeus U-18 champs at National Rowing Championship
Musaeus College emerged champions in the Under-18 Girls category at the 31st National Rowing Championship held at the Diyawanna Rowing Centre in Battaramulla last weekend. Musaeus won three gold and two silver and bronze medals in the category under the captaincy of Ranuli Wickramasinghe.
The team included deputy skipper Ashvini Jayathilake, Dinara Fernando, Mayanthi Weerakoon, Thanushi Perera, Randini de Silva, Maedhini de Alwis, Isuri Kumarasinghe, Megara Wijemanne, Binali de Alwis, Senuri de Silva, Niseni Hewamallika, Lishadi Mayadunna, Ishanka Hewakuruppu, Thamadansi Hewage, Dinuri Gunarathne, Netnuli Samaranayake, Miyanshi Dharmarathna and Nethmini Sirimanne. - 6th year coloursman. Leads the side. A right handed middle order batsman and a high class left arm leg spinner. Enjoyed a very successful last season scoring over 300 runs and claiming nearly 40 wickets. An attacking captain who takes correct decision at the right time. Was a member of the Western Province U17 squad. A fine fielder in the cover region. Deputy captain. 3rd year coloursman who opens batting. A batsman with a solid defence and a delight to watch when in full song. Slow and steadily lends his hand for a sound opening nership. part- A fine right handed middle order batsman and opens bowling with right arm pace deliveries touching 120kms.
