Latest addition to little England

Nuwara Eliya is experienci­ng much needed cooler season in November with a heavy downpour, after a long dry period. Rains bring not only the true colour of the Little England, but the large number of guests too who love to enjoy the glimpse of European climate.

Embarked on the burgeoning hospitalit­y industry in Sri Lanka, the latest venture ‘Blue Meadows’ was opened in Mahagastot­a off Baker Farm Road recently.

The cosy and comfortabl­e ‘Blue Meadows’ is a up market boutique hotel located close to the Nuwara Eliya town and is an ideal retreat for those looking for an idyllic cool holiday away from the hustle and the bustle of the city.

‘Blue Meadows’, located just four kilometres away from Nuwara Eliya town, is a mark of a splendour bringing to life the image of an ancient palace in the hills designed to mirror the modern architectu­ral influence.

‘Blue Meadows’ is set amongst the serenity and natural beauty of the splendid of Gregory’s Lake . Blessed with salubrious climate, breathtaki­ng views of valleys, meadows, mountains and greenery, it’s hard to imagine that Nuwara Eliya is only four hours from the hot and humid Colombo.

Opened in August 2016, the hotel consists of 15 well appointed rooms including deluxe, deluxe suites and the Penthouse with all the modern amenities.

Tastefully appointed with modern convenienc­es, ‘Blue Meadows’ also retains its old-world charms and comforts, including roaring fireplaces in the living and dining rooms. All bedrooms feature kingsized beds, elegant teak floors, and attached bathrooms with hot water showers.

Rooms offer minibars, room service, and flat-screen TVs with cable channels. Guests will also find coffee makers, free newspapers and safes.

This hotel features a restaurant, concierge services, and a garden. Free WiFi in public areas and free self parking area also provided. Additional­ly, barbecue grills, a front-desk safe, and free breakfast are on cards.

The guests could enjoy homely and tasty meals prepared by an experience­d Chef Dhananjaya.

‘We have facility to cater any kind of cuisine including Sri Lankan dishes. Most of the guests set their choice on Sri Lankan meals. For overseas guests we always serve Continenta­l or Western cuisine with English breakfast. But Western, Italian and Chinese dishes too are popular with our visitors’ Dhananjaya added.

Organic and fresh vegetables picked from its garden are used as much as possible when preparing the meals.

‘The management also would organise BBQs on request’ he said.

They could also enjoy a variety of snacks and beverages ordered from the menu.

Excursions could be organised to Horton Plains, Hakgala Gardens and a number of other historical, religious and tourist sites from the Hotel on request, the management said.

Seetha Amman, Kovil, Sri Baktha Hanuman Kovil, Galway Forest Reserve, Victoria Park, Nuwara Eliya Golf Club, Lovers Leap, Piduruthal­agala, Moon plains are some of the popular attraction­s.
