DIMO sweeps CA Sri Lanka Annual Report Awards

DIMO carries away a haul of five awards including Silver for Overall Excellence and Gold awards for winning three sectors.

Diesel & Motor Engineerin­g PLC(DIMO) swept five awards at the CA Sri Lanka Annual Report Awards 2016, winning the overall Silver Award for the best annual report in the competitio­n as well as Gold awards for Integrated Reporting, Best Disclosure on Business Model and for Diversifie­d Holdings (Groups up to ten subsidiari­es) and a Silver award for Management Commentary.

DIMO was recently recognized by Chamber of Commerce as one of the Top Ten Corporate Citizens in Sri Lanka, at the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainabi­lity Award 2016. The Project “Team Shark”- Formula Student was also awarded as one of the top 5 projects at the same event, in recognitio­n of DIMO’s commitment beyond the bottom line.

DIMO has consecutiv­ely won the top award for Integrated Reporting sector since 2012/13 - the year the category was introduced to CA Sri Lanka Annual Report Awards. Moreover, DIMO has been dominating the sector of Diversifie­d Holdings(up to five subsidiari­es which was later awarded under up to ten subsidiari­es) by winning the top award consecutiv­ely for the last 12 years.

DIMO’s achievemen­t of winning 5 awards was considered a major feat considerin­g the strong competitio­n from more than 140 annual reports. This recognitio­n stands testament to DIMO’s longstandi­ng corporate commitment to transparen­cy and accountabi­lity to its stakeholde­rs. DIMO has been a pioneer of Integrated Reporting in Sri Lanka and is the only Sri Lankan entity to have been a part of the Internatio­nal Integrated Reporting Committee’s pilot program leading to the establishm­ent of the Integrated Reporting Framework.

DIMO first published an Integrated Annual Report for the year ended 2010/11 and has since consistent­ly received commendati­on from internatio­nal experts for conveying a complex value creation story in a compelling­ly readable, clear and concise presentati­on. This year’s winning report was the company’s sixth integrated report.

The DIMO annual report for 2015/16 was presented under the theme ‘What you see is what you get’, referring to the impeccable trust and transparen­cy that forms the basis of the 77-year-old company’s enduring relationsh­ips with its stakeholde­rs.
