Oxford College of Business recognised at CA Sri Lanka Annual Report Awards 2016

Oxford College of Business, won a ‘Compliance Award’ in the Small and Medium Sized Entities at the 52nd Annual Report Awards 2016 organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Sri Lanka.

The event was held on the 6th of December under the patronage of Finance Minister Hon. Ravi Karunanaya­ke. This competitio­n is considered the most prestigiou­s accolade for Annual Reporting in the country, and has helped enhance the standards in financial reporting in line with global standards.

CA Sri Lanka is the national profession­al accounting body and the sole authority in promulgati­ng accounting and auditing standards in Sri Lanka. The Annual Report Awards, organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Sri Lanka is the benchmark for transparen­cy, corporate governance, and excellence in financial reporting. The theme of this year’s 52nd Annual Report competitio­n was ‘Precision Exemplifie­d’. The objectives of the competitio­n were to encourage effective communicat­ion to stakeholde­rs through publicatio­n of informativ­e annual reports, promote effective presentati­on of financial and non-financial informatio­n, to comply with legislativ­e and generally accepted accounting practices and to enlighten Sri Lankan corporates on the growing global trends in annual reporting and encourage organisati­ons to adopt best practices in parity with internatio­nal standards.

The winners were selected on their ability to clearly communicat­e the objectives, highlights, performanc­e, personnel, and management to a targeted audience. The size, resources, complexity, and sophistica­tion of operation of each applicant was considered in the judging process.

Furthermor­e, Oxford College of Business recently won the the Gold award in the Small Business category and a Merit Award in the Educationa­l Services Sector at the National Business Excellence Awards 2016. Oxford College of Business was also listed as one of the top 25 Great Places To Work For in Sri Lanka by Great Place To Work for the third consecutiv­e year and bagged the silver award in Small Sized Enterprise which was organized by Great Place to Work Institute together with Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and LMD Magazine. Oxford College of Business emerged victorious, winning the Silver Award - Service (National Level) in the Small Category at the 2016 CNCI Achiever Industrial Excellence Awards organized by the Ceylon National Chamber of Industries. Whilst OCB’s flagship CSR initiative “Out of Darkness” was named as one of the best projects in Asia under the Social Empowermen­t Category at the Asia Responsibl­e Entreprene­urship Awards (AREA) 2016.
