Peradeniya University Agriculture Faculty's Undergrad Research Symposium on Dec.16

-

The University of Peradeniya's Faculty of Agriculture Undergraduate Research Symposium (FAuRS – 2016) will be held next Friday (16).

The objective of the symposium is to provide a common platform for graduands of all Depts of Study of the Faculty, to communicate the results of their final year research projects conducted during the last semester of the academic programme.

It is being held for the third consecutive time in 2016, the University said in its website.

This symposium will also set a stage to share research findings with a broad group of stakeholders, especially from Industry, for prospective employers to identify competent and budding graduates who would fit into the competitive world of challenges and opportunities.

The abstracts of all research pro- jects completed by undergraduate students during the last semester are published in the proceedings of the FAuRS, which will be issued on the day of the symposium. In addition, the FAuRS-2016 has opened 6 competitions to reward the most talented budding researchers produced by the Faculty of Agriculture this year. It is also expected that the competitions will provide incentives to graduands to learn to prepare and pre- sent appropriate analytical results to specialist as well as non-specialist audiences.

Six competition categories to capture students with different talents in research communication were organised. There were awards for the Best Oral Presentations, Best Poster Presentations, Best Innovation, Best Research Briefs, Best Research Videos and Best Scientific Photographs.
