Reflect, Celebrate and Prosper

-

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” – Steve Jobs

Whenever people talk about graduations, Steve Job’s speech instant- ly comes to mind. In his speech, Steve shares his life lessons through three stories from his life. His birth, when he got fired from Apple, and when he found out about his cancer. These stories are extremely inspiring – most people knew Steve as the charismatic CEO who heads Apple, but who would have known that his birth parents gave him up for adoption? That he quit college because his college fees were sucking up his parents’ savings? That he was once fired from the very company he founded? And that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2004, and by a stroke of fate, survived it?

Graduation is a time to reflect on the lessons learnt in the years at the College. It is also a time to ponder on the unknown chapter that will soon unfold.

For the students at NCHS, having been cocooned in the comfort of the college, they were trained consciously and sub-consciously for the changes that they are to face once transferred to Malaysia or Australia.

NCHS Graduation Ball 2016

The Masquerade Ball of the Nawaloka College of Higher Studies will take place on the 19th of December at the Galadari Grand Ballroom.

Students will celebrate the transition from being a local student to an international student. This change is symbolized by the theme of masquerade. An opportunity is given to the students of NCHS to start anew at the Swinburne University of Technology, armed with the knowledge and experience gathered at NCHS.

Daniela, Venezuelan exchange student at Swinburne

“I knew Swinburne was the best option for me. It was my opportunity to improve myself in many ways.

I chose Swinburne because it is one of the best universities in Australia. Swinburne gives me the opportunity to improve my professional skills. I like the professors and the classes; it is easy to learn a lot from it. I am very happy; everyone is very friendly at the laboratory, making me feel welcome. They are always trying to teach me new techniques. I am really enjoying my time at Swinburne.

I really like the lifestyle on campus. I feel so comfortable that it is almost like home. There are so many different places where you can have fun, sitting on the grass with your friends, or having a coffee at the atrium. And when you need to study the library is the perfect place.

I love everything about Melbourne. You can do whatever you feel like, from going to St Kilda for a really good beach day, to going for a hike and enjoy nature. My favorite thing to do in the city is to go to Federation Square and walk around during the night. It looks so beautiful with all the building lights and the river.

I would say to others consider- ing Swinburne, you’ll really enjoy it. Swinburne makes it really easy and fun.”

You too can be a part of Swinburne

Swinburne University of Technology is an Australian public university based in Melbourne, Victoria. Just like Daniela, the Sri Lankan students from NCHS too will be enjoying the life and studies at Swinburne.
