Damithu and Erinee most outstanding at Mora Smashes
Damithu Fonseka of Ananda College and Erinee Devachandra of Ladies College were crowned as the Most Outstanding Players in the Boys and Girls categories respectively at the Mora Smashes 2016 All Island Intermediate/ Novices Men’s and Women’s and Boys’ and Girls’ Age Group Table Tennis Championship concluded at the new Gymnasium, University of Moratuwa last weekend.
Damithu Fonseka for his outstanding performances in winning the Boys’ Under 15 Singles, the Novices Men’s titles and finishing as first runner-up in the Under 12 Boys Singles while Erinee Devachandra’s excellent showing by winning the Girls’ Under 18 Singles and Women’s Novices titles made way for them to be adjudged Most Outstanding players in the tournament. Final Results: Under-8 Singles: Boys’ – Dilith Dinsara (Kegalu Vidyalaya) beat Vinduwara Buddhadasa (Royal College, Colombo) 2-0 (11/7, 15/13); Girls’ – Sinethmi De Mel (G/ Devananda College) beat Ravindi Gayana (Southlands College, Galle) 2-0 (11/9, 11/5)
Under-10 Singles: Boys’ – Sachintha Charulochana (P. De S. Kularatne College) beat Shihan Ahamed (Kingswood College, Kandy) 2-1 (11/7, 8/11, 11/6); Girls – Vinuki Janithma (Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda) beat Savini Ratwatta (Girls High School, Kandy) 2-0 (11/7, 11/7)
