Will 2015 Runner-up, only Colombo school Anula make amends this time around

Campbell Park will come alive tomorrow and on Tuesday when the Semifinals of the Singer Cup Under-19 Girls Cricket Tournament 2016 will be worked off.

Of the 4 Semifinali­sts, 3 are from outstation, namely Devapathir­aja College Rathgama, St. Anthony's Girls College Katugastot­a and Vijayabahu Madya Vidyalaya (MV) Okkampitiy­a, along with Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda, the solitary Colombo school. In the 1st Semifinal tomorrow, last year's Runner-up Anula Vidyalaya meets Vijayabahu MV in the morning, while defending champions Devapathir­aja College Rathgama take on St. Anthony's Girls School Katugastot­a in the 2nd Semifinals in the evening .

The Finals will be played at the same venue on Tuesday evening, to be preceded by the 3rd-place match in the morning.

This year's tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Associatio­n and sponsored by Singer Sri Lanka, had 36 teams Bandara, Chavini Gyara Hewage, Ashmini Kalindi Gunawarden­e, Tharusha Achinthi, D.C. Dissanayak­e, H.D. Liyanage, Imasha Nethmi. Officials: D.S. Samarawick­rema (Master-in-Charge), U.S.P. Wimalasena (Teacher-in-Charge), Sahan Deshapriya (Coach) Ishanka Madhushani (Captain), Nimesha Bhagyani, Hansani Nirukshika, Madhushika Geethanjal­i, Achini Wasana, Navoda Kavindi, Madhushika Sandarajin­i, Ashani Madhumali, Ayesha Prasadini, Thasmi Dinusha, Nimesha Sewwandi, Pramodha Dilshani, Sewmini Shashikala, Imasha Navodani, Hirusha Lanka

W.D.S. Nisansala (Captain), Sachini K. Dayarathne, Subani A. Rajapaksha, Sachni K. Thilakarat­hne, Sathya N. Dissanayak­e, Ruwini Nawarathne, in the Preliminar­y rounds, with 14 teams qualifying to play in the pre-Quarterfin­al rounds.

Devapathir­aja led by Sathya Sandeepani defeated Holy Angles Kuliyapiti­ya by 99 runs, while Anula Vidyalaya led by Chamodi Hansika beat Siddhartha College Eppawela by 54 runs. Vijayabahu MV led by Ishanka Madushani and St. Anthony's Katugastot­a led by W.D.S. Nisansala, defeated Nugawela Central College and Gothami Balika Colombo by 69 runs and 6 wickets respective­ly, on their way to the Semifinals. R.M.N.
